New to me 1982 Competition Package
Hello All
Some of you have kept up with the ongoing saga of the 79 Rehab. I feel like that is close but truly I said that 3 years ago. During that rehab we have bought and sold a few 928's. Some to enjoy, some to part out and some just because they were good deals.
Well I found another one to enjoy for a while.
I call it the Fuller 82 because I received this from my great friend Dean Fuller. This is the first 928 that his brother Dennis bought several years back. I had emailed him the craigslist ad back when I was scouring the ads daily for deals (6-7 years ago). I loved this one and thought it would make a great first 928.
Dean did all of the service work on it before they drove it much so it has/had a fresh timing belt/WP, new fuel lines and numerous other bits and pcs. The dash and pod are perfect, the engine runs very strong and the exhaust tone is fantastic. There is a receipt in the stack for a prototype exhaust from 928 specialist. I have not put it up on bars yet so I really don't even know what the exhaust looks like.
Here is a video of me receiving it. (did I mention that dean trailered it 4 1/2 hours to my house)
So it was repainted at some point and that is pealing in some places but a couple hours of rubbing compound and wax did wonders for the orange peel.
I have not cleaned up the interior yet but here are a few pics.
More to come later as I tweak things here and there.

Thanks Hoi. I have just a few small things to do before SITM and the 5 hr round trip that goes with it but I have been enjoying her already.
Re orient the short shifter, new tires and some general interior clean up and seat rehab and she will be a runner AND a looker.

To me there is something special about a '82 competition group. The L jet is smooth and makes nice torque right from the bottom and revs out nicely. The transmission ratios are perfectly matched to the power. The brakes are all you will need. The suspension is tight and sporty. Honestly, there is little my S4 does for me that my '82 CG did not.

I have one and it doesn't do anything any different than my 80 5-speed except the sport seats hug me better. You could order any car with sport suspension so that's not unique to the comp cars.
Same engine, brakes, transmission etc...

Thanks everybody. I will probably just be "showing it off" via pictures and videos until Sharks in the Mountains unless some event pops up in Alpharetta between now and then. May is a busy month for us. Our daughter is graduating from college (again) next weekend and it seems like we have several non car related local functions throughout the month.
Like Hacker, I would love to know more about the competition package. I have not had the wheels off the ground yet so I know only what is posted in this thread.
Dean left a binder of receipts going back to the mid nineties and I am sure I will be able to learn more about the car through those receipts.

Brian, any plans to bring it to Rich's this Saturday?
Hacker, all I could find about the comp package was that the transmission ratios were different (but I'm not even sure about that).
