Anyone have ceramic tint on their 928?
I have black interior, thinking about getting the llumar 90% all around. Stock appearance but supposed to block 44% of heat. Any real world reviews or suggestions? Price is $425 installed.

It is a long time [about 8 years] since I went through the decision loop. A friend of mine has a franchise detailing business and uses quality films. As I remember for my 928 we selected a quality ceramic film and it made quite a noticeable difference.
What confuses many is that the film does not prevent heat soak and when this happens they falsely conclude that the film "does not work'. When the car is heat soaked first thing you do is drive with the windows open for the first few minutes to get rid of the excessive heat soak that will be around 80C depending on where you are [this is why it can kill quickly]. Even in our ambient midday summer temps of around 44C the air temperature is still way cooler than inside a heat soaked car and helps with theinitially cooling off.
Where the film comes into its own is when the car is cooling down- it cools noticeably quicker and then helps the a/c in that the rate of radiant heat flow into the car is significantly reduced.
The black interior just adds insult to injury during heat soak. The oil company that I used to work with painted its steelwork white in the desert and for some weird reason painted the handrails black. Needless to say you could not hold the handrails because they were heating up to around 82C as anything above 60C will be either very uncomfortable, painful to hold or will burn you. I setup a trial to paint the handrails white and the Company immediately changed their specs. Sit on black leather seats with flimsy shorts and you will likely burn your butt!

I just had all my windows tinted last week. I will grab the receipt this afternoon and tell you what they used and what it cost. I suggest having them do clear on the windshield, it really protects the dash well. Details to follow shortly.

I have the ceramic Sun Tech in all my cars. I found Sun Tech to be a great film. I was exclusive to SunTech when I was running my own window tinting gig. The ceramic will not fad easy and will give you great UV protection.

I have been up too long. need some rest.
Actually never put tint on a car and good info to have re: ceramic vs. metallic and phone issues.

I didn't even know the previous owner had installed 90% (clear) film on the inside of my windshield until my tint goy pointed it out. It was that invisible and zero distortion. 25 year old 928 dashes are known to crack from the heat and not a single crack anywhere. Leather is in amazing shape and no carpet fading, again, 25 years and 167,000 miles. A previous owner went limo black (about 20 years ago when the car was in Arizona), I removed it last week for a lighter shade.
I just had SunTek CXP/Carbon Series (SunTek's top of the line) installed on all windows on my 91 928 GT. I went medium on the sides and dark on rear. The windshield already had clear so I left that in place. One more comment, I'm told "ceramic tint" means different things to different people. I think the SunTek top of the line is actually carbon more than Ceramic and I believe better. I think some call it Ceramic. I'm no expert, I just know I used this same tint on past 911's and a Maserati and I really like the SunTek. I paid $395 installed and the 928 has a lot of difficult glass to work with.

I have SunProtech ceramic film in my 928 and we have Llumar film in my wife's Mitsubishi 4x4 [Pajero]. Both seem to work well and can recommend both. I understand the SunProtech film has better specifications not that you would sense any difference in real world terms.

I have the 90% Llumar ceramic on the windshield of my W126 420SEL, as well as a slightly darker n the rest of the car. I've been happy with it. The front clear does not interfere with visibility and if you didn't know it was there you'd never see it.
No interference with phone reception. It has been installed for at least 3 or 4 years on a car that is not garaged and the tint still looks great - no lifting, bubbling, discoloration.
I can't speak to the heat rejection. I've had it on so long, I just don't remember.
