Nice looking motor.

So, where are all these barn find GTs coming from these days? I know of 4 now that were really on the brink of death and saved. Looks like the rising wave of prices is making such saves justified!

Keep up the good work.

When I started this adventure 4 years ago I wanted an S4, a GT and a GTS. The GT was the last one to fill out the collection and it was local in Atlanta so another bonus. kevin_in_atlanta knew of the car and helped close the deal.

Nice work here guys I was going to give you a heads up to check the anti drain back seats to make sure they are staked into the head.
We had a GT at the shop that had a seat that was pushed up and it cut off the oil supply to the head then the cams seized.
This was after a fresh valve job

I know of the oil pins and the oil check valves and springs but am unfamiliar with your nomenclature - Anti drain back seats?

Got the engine installed today. Was able to do it with AC compressor, alternator and oil cooler installed on the engine. Should have it running in a couple weeks. Big thanks to Kevin Berez (Kevin_in_Atlanta) for the help as well as use of his garage, engine stand and lift during this adventure!

That was an easy install.

Here's my engine installation hack. I use an engine support with vinyl coated lanyard to lift the bell housing to the top of the tunnel and a ratchet strap (not pictured) to raise the front of the engine to match the angle of the torque tube.

Default GT ID

This thread below was started 4/11/18; and exists in isolation; would seem to be the definitive GT ID thread; thanks to DR's contribution.

The Car and engine have been confirmed as a 90GT, this thread is simply to document the progress of bringing this car to running condition after it sat for 16 years.

Noted and understood. Not trying to undermine your find.

From post #1:
Today we bought a neglected 90 Slate Grey GT. Or at least we think it is under all this.
The thread I referenced only verifies what you say later in this thread than post #1. Just trying to add content and cross reference for others in an area that frequently pops up here.

You'll have to agree that GTs and their verification generate a fair amount of interest.

Installed new Ford injectors, fuel rails and GB fuel lines. Fuel Injector Connection machined some aluminium spacers with slot for injector clips so I didn't have to Dremel the injector. Pretty sweet!

To the best of my knowledge, the car sat for approximately 16 years. I am hoping to have it running after SITM and possibly driving it to Frenzy.

Major milestone today. Kevin drove it to the gas station and I drove it around my neighborhood. What a car!

Wicked fast - - it is a beast! Spins the wheels in third gear. Really old tires help. :-)

Kevin will add to this.

Let's see. The car is 28 years old. The heads were stired 16 years meaning that they had only been installed 12 years. How was the mating surface to the block when you installed them?

The heads had been completely rebuilt and were in bags when we got the car, mating surfaces were in near perfect shape on the block
