R&R High Pressure AC hose
88 S4; got a bulb on the Hi hose. Thought I could snake the hose through, but have been advised that the fender or front bumper needs to taken off???
Doesn't seem right to me. Anybody have experience on this?
Thanks,

I removed mine without any issue. Mine is an 80, but I don't think it is much different.
I dropped my compressor to remove the fitting, and the other end goes to the top of my condenser.
Someone else with 88 advise will drop in.

I am under the impression the high pressure line runs from the compressor via the side of the radiator end tank then into the condenser. Doubtless others can confirm that for you.

I don't believe that is the correct belt. Looks like it is riding high on pulley and almost out of adjusting options.

Look at this link. May help. Once you remove the hose from the compressor and condenser, it will come out.
Thats all the photos I have. I'll take more tomorrow when I install my new lines

The compressor to condenser hose, 92857309706, on the 87-89 routes a bit differently compared to early years.
You do not have to remove fenders or bumpers.
After you remove the refrigerant loosen your belt adjusters, slip belt off pulley, remove 2 bolts on top support, lower the compressor so it rests on something, remove the hoses at the compressor manifolds. Disconnect the hose end at the condenser inlet (use two wrenches so you don't damage the fitting on the condenser). Slide the hose out; a bit of wiggling and few twists. Install new hose, ditto on suction line, new drier, use new o-rings. Evac, charge and test.

Take a picture of how the hoses routes along the compressor and pulley to save time/frustration on re-aasembly.
Remember that the suction hose is also almost 30 years old and wasn't barrier hose to begin with. Replace both hoses.

^^^^^^^^
As said above, replace both hoses. Now is the time.
Mine is an 80, but I'll attach photos of hose the hose runs. Yours will very a little. Remove the front grill for easier access.

Hi guys,
I lifted the car today and snaked it out like I thought it should in the beginning. I wanted to have someone else do the job and I got the can't do it, we gotta remove the fender or bumper.
Just a pain to get it out, but the replacement snaked in quickly.
Again, thanks for all the replies today.

PS after reviewing your post, mine still had the plastic barrier between the fender and the radiator. You have to shove the hose past that both ways, and move that hose in ways you wouldn't think would work. Also helpful to look thru the cooling flaps to see where things are.
