Default What are the parts needed.

^^If you read my topic regarding my crack block few weeks back.

The mechanic called me & said he manage to source a 928 GTS engine from a abandoned 928 & is now trying to deal with the owner.

Just say he manage to secure that engine & if the block from the abandoned 928 is in good condition. I will use that block instead of repairing my block.

So I wonder what are the parts needed when rebuilding an engine? I want to make an order at roger. I know I will buy the timing belt kit( mine is using the porken auto tensioner) and water pump. My old water pump is ok but I think better change it. Recommended me which is good.

What other parts needed.

You could need all of them.

Open up the donor motor first, of course, there's a general set of things you will need, but..given shipping costs, perhaps wait until then...block could be junk...

I suspect the first thing you need to ascertain is why the car was abandoned. If an accident that would be self explanatory but if not the most likely culprit would be the motor. These cars are not usually abandoned due to minor issues but you never know!

Good luck either way.

if the abandoned 928 motor is jammed- the block still could be use right? I was offered a burned 928 GTS for Brunei dollars 7k. That is too much for a burned out car . So I'm hopping this block is ok.

You will need to strip the block first and have your machine shop measure everything, then order. But the list may be pretty long and expensive.

Talk to Roger he can likely give a you a price on all the bearings, but the wild card will be the cylinder bores, if they are worn you will be into oversized pistons.

Good luck

A jammed motor is "jammed" for a reason and usually not one with a good outcome. If the cylinders are damaged it is a question of whether they are damaged beyond redemption. Beyond that if the block needs reboring then I trust you understand that the 928 motor is anything but normal. Boring these motors and preparing them for use is a highly specialised undertaking and I would be somewhat surprised if there is a workshop in Bandar Seri that can do this work on an alusil block but...?

Also, fitting a crank to a crankcase with new shells also has its complications due to the need to have the correct tolerance group shells. In short rebuilding these motors is not a simple matter like it is with more conventional engines.

Thus unless you have a viable short block I suspect you may be in some difficulty. Needless to say I hope I am wrong but this is why on your original thread we tried to highlight your realistic options.

At this point you are probably better off fixing/re sleeving the existing engine that to invest money in a siezed up block.
