That's the plan. Now understand that the term "plan" with this group has a wide variety of meanings. So first the "plan", then a discussion of what "plan" means:

For the Tuesday drive the plan is to get together at the Saturday and Monday evening events and make a plan. It all depends on what folks want to do. Our suggestion is a variation of PCA's "Great Circle Route" DIY tour, but we're totally open to other ideas.

The only wrinkle with that proposed route is that the Keller ferry across the Columbia River is TU until further notice, as of Tuesday. With WSDOT that means anything from two hours to two years, hard to say. The problem was described as "issues with the north shore loading ramp", love that word "issues". They didn't include "catastrophic" so I am betting that it is fixed by July.

See post #55 above for more details.

So the only plan for sure is that Sue and I (lord willing and the car runs) will will drive somewhere and back on Tuesday, and welcome all to tag along, lead or follow, or drive somewhere else. This won't be a PCA-style tour with a leader and sweep, just a fun drive with friends.

And where "somewhere" is will be a topic of discussion. Our preference is to stay off the highways and away from traffic as much as possible. These aren't 911s and we won't stop for fuel every hundred miles, but we do seek out scenery and stop for it when found.

Then on Monday, July 10th, starting at 6:30pm, we have tables reserved at The Boiler Room (http://boilerroompizza.com/). This one is a short drive from the Davenport and the folks there are looking forward to seeing our cars in their parking lot!

Both of these are casual, pub type places with good food and multiple beers on tap. Something for everyone. We’ll be ordering off the menus and they are willing to do individual checks, so no deposit required!

We’ll be arriving on Saturday with Sunday devoted to prepping for the Concours on Monday. Sunday night is the Parade Welcome Party and one more opportunity to hang around together.

It would be fun to do a group drive on Tuesday. We can talk about it when we are together in Spokane.

Hope to see all of you starting on Saturday. Please let me know if you will be coming so we have an approximate number for the restaurants. Post here, send me a PM or email to: sue (at) siriuscyber (dot) net.

Don’t forget, official Parade event registration starts Monday morning, 9am PDT.

We won't be in Spokane till Monday the 10th. Don't know what time either, so we'll see every one at the Pizza place.

Since I informed my family that I'll be in Spokane for the Parade, the silence is deafening. Any way, I have club brothers that I must see while we're there too.

I really hope we all do something on Tuesday.

I'm registered for "everything", however, I'm going to be at a Hooked On Driving event at Oregon Raceway Park on Saturday (and maybe Sunday) July 8th and 9th.
Have to talk to someone about if I can even put my 1980 928 in the Concours - it's not very stock looking with S Front Spoiler, S4 Brakes and Wheels (to fit the brakes), and S4 Hatch & Wing on it. I want to make sure if they even want a car like that in the Concours.
Home Base is Portland, Oregon.

The short answer to the Concours question is yes, I am sure your car would be welcome and the appropriate group would be "Preparation".

PCA Concours are divided into three groups: Restoration, Preservation, and Preparation. "Restoration" is just that, for cars that have been restored to as-new condition either as they were delivered or how they could have been ordered at that time ("period correct"). You couldn't order S4 brakes in 1980 for example.

The "Preservation" group is all about originality, with the expectation that the car is driven and allowance for normal wear. A Certificate of Authenticity is required (for this group only) and numbers, color, etc must match. So not a good fit if wheels and brakes have been updated.

The most popular group is "Preparation", which is all about cleanliness and preparation. Originality is not a factor, clean and shiny is. Within the preparation group there are three classes: Full, where everything is judged: interior, exterior, storage, chassis and suspension-- only for the truly obsessed (see e.g. "Minerva"). "Touring" is interior/exterior plus engine and storage, and "Street " is interior/exterior only.

The Concours prep area is in the parking garage at the Davenport Grand Hotel and is open starting on July 7th. They will have a do it yourself wash area available at the loading docks (lots of hoses, soap, buckets, etc.) and I believe you can use the wash facilities whether you are in the concours or not. Hope this helps.

PCA refunded $80.00 of my money today, so I'm thinking the run to the lodge has been cancelled for Wednesday.

I suppose something else will turn up for us to do.
