I have lots of pictures from concours and the drive we did today ( 5 cars). Great scenery and great roads. Thanks Jim and Sue for the leg work on the route and leading the group today. Will post an album up when I get some time....sleep now
I see Kim Crumb but don't recognize the other judges.
Concours banquest last night.... any 928 winners?
Yes:
Keith's 1980 was awarded first place in Preparation/Full,
Chris's '87 S4 was second in Prep/Street,
Robin's Cassis Red '87 was third in Prep/Street, and
Thomas's '86.5 was second in Preservation/Full class.
The 928 was in a "transaxle" group along with 924, 944, 951 and 968.
The "Preparation" classes on preparation and cleanliness. Originality is not judged-- i.e. different wheels, different mirrors etc are all OK. "Street" means interior/exterior only are judged; "Touring" means interior/exterior plus engine and storage; and "Full" means all that plus chassis and suspension.
The "Preservation" class is all about originality. Numbers must match, and everything needs to be original. This is a tough class and special congrats to Thomas for a second (winner was an immaculate 968).
I'm ready to go back tomorrow I had such a great time! The 928 friends made this a special event for me that will never be forgotten. I want to also thank Sue and Jim for all their influence towards this great adventure. Great to hang with Chris, Mark & Ursula, Adam & Sue, Tom & Chris and our first place winner Keith and Robyn and husband. Who'd I forget? I also had time well spent with Bill V., I have a solid sunburn to show for this.
Until next time take care,
my friends.
Thomas
Following the dinner, my wife and I went for a walk around the river.
The 997 put to bed for the night in a garage filled with about 1000 Porsches. In good company.
The next morning we checked out a neat local, breakfast place.
and then headed over to the concours. Glad I did not have to get up at 5am this time!!! The event was held on a public park along the river just across from the hotel.
