WTB: Short Block - Any 4.L or 85/86
I am searching for a short block to repair my engine, damaged after a 2/6 bearing failure. I have been having a hard time finding anything. 928 International does not have what I need right now. They only have complete 85/86 engines available. I could use any 4.7L short block, or an 85/86 one and do a Hybrid. Please let me know what you have got.

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for your efforts on my behalf . I can't seem to follow your 1st link, but I phoned dc Auto on Tuesday of this week, and they said they would call me back but never did. Poor customer service, but I suppose this means they don't have anything to sell to me . I had an identical experience with Parts Heaven as well (called, promised call-back, nothing).
I have also been in contact with Nineapart (the guys in Wroxeter), who are in the process of going out of business. He only has complete cars, he is not sure what he has, but he would sell me a complete 16V engine for C$3500. This is for an engine that has not run for years, and is currently in a car that has been outside for some time. It's not what I need (want a short block), the quality is doubtful, and the price is very high. 928 Intl. sells used 16V engines for U$1500.
The hunt continues.

Eric, stay away from Nineapart at all cost!
Randy at Whale Tail Porsche Parts still doesn't have anything?
Try putting a wanted add on Kijiji, maybe something will pop up.

Hi Imre,
Yeah, dealing with Frank at Nineapart can be problematic but my options are limited. As expected, his price for what he has is wildly unrealistic. If I absolutely am forced to buy a complete engine, it would be cheaper to buy from 928Intl. and pay to have it shipped from California.
Randy currently only has a complete (he says tested) S4 engine, and he wants C$3500 for it. This does compare favourably with Frank's untested 16V for the same price, but both of these are way, way more than I was expecting to pay for what I actually need (a good short block).

Hi Tom,
I got the pictures OK. Thank you very much for following up with me on this with those pictures. I do appreciate it. You can see one of your pictures in this thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ut-sought.html
When I started this thread and the one linked to above, your short block was the best (virtually only) option I had uncovered. It is still a candidate, for sure. But, before I commit to your short block, I am making one more attempt at finding a short block that does not need repair. The repair will involve me moving the short block around multiple times (to and from the repair facility), which is quite inconvenient since I need to use a vehicle that is not mine for this, I need to locate a reputable shop within range of me that can do the job, and I don't think the repair is going to be cheap. All that said, at present your block is my best option, it is just far from an ideal one.
Thanks again for your help with this.

I sent you a pm, i can show my shop the pic on Monday and point out the spot on my block that they have in the shop, I'm sure they can do it. He has a good welder that fixes blocks for him.
If you want to call, ask for Mike.
