1985 Euro Wide body for Sale
Yes, caught my eye as well...so I went to take a look at it.
I am not sure of the body kit, but I was told it might be an early Strosek. The car has been repainted Black (orig color) but not the best job in the world. The body parts could have been attached more smoothly as you can see the bondo waves under the paint. Never the less, a decent looking kit.
The car is relatively clean in and out. As with 99% of 928's for sale, this car needs TLC. The seats look to be redone with no rips. The interior is actually in very good shape considering. AC blow frigid...go figure. Sunroof and electronic locking does not work with a few other little do dads like seat motor not working. Little things that a 928 guy can fix in a weekend..
Front spoiler is gone, no belly pan or splash shields in the wheel wells. Window tint needs replacing. Looks like steering rack has a small leak, otherwise the bottom of the car is dry. Lights all work on outside. Paint needs some color sanding and buffing.
The car starts right up and has a very impressive rumble. Engine looks great with recently replaced WP and TB. Distributers (2) look very fresh. After market dual exhaust to muffler from dual cat.
Owner took me for a ride and the car rides very smooth and quiet...aside from the aggressive exhaust rumble. 310hp car for those unaware...4 spd automatic tranny though. Brakes in fine shape...no squeeks, stops straight and well. Not crazy about the BBS wheels though...they look like 16"x7.5".
For the most part, this car rates a whole lot better than many 928's I have looked at for sale in the past.
I thought about buying it, fixing it up and reselling, but I do not know what the value of these "unique" cars are. 85 Euro is a big plus, the body kit could be a big plus, but the tranny takes off a few points.
The guy is asking $8995...not worth it to me.

I'm just not a big fan of that kit.
Too much crap on there.
Not smooth or graceful.
It really destroys a lot of the lines of the car.
The car itself just looks a bit 80's ricey, and not very modern.
I think you would *really* have to find the right buyer, to make any money off of buying
and reselling this car. Most people seem to prefer the original lines...
I tend to like exotic 928s, but I just do not really like this car.
The price is not bad at all, since it is in good mechanical shape, and a Euro.
They are asking a bit more than it is worth, because they probably think the
body kit increases the car's value. But unless you LOVE that kit, I think the
kit actually lowers the value... Despite loving exotic looking 928s, I would
prefer my stock-bodied car, over this one...

I agree, not a car I would want to own. It has that 80's Testarossa look...very dated. I am not crazy about the hood either. I would change it back to an original hood at least.
I am waiting to see what happens with it...the waiting game. It has been for sale for a week or more now. My thought was to offer $5K. I think I could get the car to a fairly desireable look and good condition without a ridiculous amount of work.
It is unique and would require a buyer who really likes it.
Thanks for the opinions.

I think that car could be done up quite well.
1) remove the aftermarket wing...leave the stock one there
2) update the wheels
3) fill in the naca scoops on the hood
4) a set of GTS mirrors (that does it for any car...i need to get on that)
5) smooth the transition to the hood bulge from the hood
6) give the bulge in the hood a reason to be there. One of Andy K's Whipple blowers!. (Note: His fits with out any mods to the hood but you could always find a bigger one! )

Hey all
I sold my '84 Euro without any body kits a couple of weeks ago for $6.3K on eBay...I was asking $7K for it locally so I'm not disappointed at the sale price....The asking price of the '85 Euro with low mileage, even with an ugly hood, is about right, if the car is mechanically sound....My car needed some TLC as well and it was not perfect inside, but ran like a charm all day.
There are still people out there who appreciate the original looks and extra HP of the Euro cars. I'm sure the seller will get his price sooner or later!

Heinrich...if you are serious, I will go to bat for you, secure the car and get a PPI if you like. He said he had another person looking at it today (Friday)
