It's a lot of fun putting two case halves together and being able to see daylight through parts after some monkey used a rotary wheel to clean the surface.

^^^ yeah, basically except for the throwing up blood.

I have learned a lot along the way.

Used some gasket remover on the lower cradle:
Results after waiting 10 minutes. (Should have waited longer per the instructions. 15-25 minutes for anaerobic ) And it is damn cold.

Kevin if it's the 3/8" it does 35 ft lbs, the 1/4" does 30 ft lbs.
"...I have milwaukee right angle electric ratchet. I think it torques to 12-14 ft lbs. I'll double check that. ...".

I love that 3/8", it's my go everywhere tool

That gasket removed is an excellent carbon remover too. If the pistons or the combustion chamber has excessive carbon, this is the product to use. Let is sit for 5-10 min and the carbon will wipe off, even the really thick ones.

To keep the rings intact from this product, tilt the block so that the gasket maker leaks out of the cylinders and doesn't go down to the rings. Discovered this by accident when was trying to clean up the gasket material on my 996 engine. It truly is amazing how well it works. Others on RL have since used it for the same purpose and got the same results.

^^^ The block was cleaned with just razors.

Gasket remover is for the lower girdle. I will keep it away from the bearings.

It's dang expensive for how much product you actually get, but it works like no other product I could find. Absolutely fantastic. This was the ONLY product that I tried that would clean the carbon on both the piston dishes and the combustion chambers in the heads. I bet I spent $100+ $$$$$ on just this product. Not to mention the wasted $$$ on the products that didn't work.

Sean I have this one, I purchased it way ove a year ago and paid 100 bucks (home depot IIRC)
I see them listed now for $89.00 not sure if that includes the soft case and charger, mine did.
The 1/4" version was not on sale, it was still around 100.00.

Soft case is useless IMO, I just lock it and toss it in my portable tool bag, else it sits on my bench

That is what I use. Also, have a right angle drill from same vendor. My son turned me onto them. Good quality.

I've got to get someone to send me some of this stuff. Here in Kalifornia, they have taken away anything stronger than water.

^^ I've found the loctite gasket remover also works well on hard to remove carbon.

Well Kevin Wilson and I assembled the block today.

Here's what the loctite application looked like before we placed the lower cradle into place:










Following Greg's instructions religiously we saw some of the loctite weep along the two mating surfaces
