friend of mine with an '83 looking for a well versed mechanic in central/northern va area (richmond to dc, charlottesville, even southern maryland)

Taylor Chapman at Chapman Autowerks, Sterling/Herndon, Virginia. He is very good, but expensive. Kevin Lacy has been working on local 928s in the MD, VA, DC area. He does really good work, perhaps not as quickly as a shop that must turn around cars to pay the bills, but with the benefit of being careful and cleaning a lot as he goes. It helps that Kevin is a 928 fan and enjoys working on them.

David Word auto in Richmond VA. Know the owner, they do a lot of work on older Porsches including 928s.

My 928 and 951 have both had work done there.
