300M Clutch Shafts Available Again
I made another run of the short clutch shafts for all the 928 models and have a few that are not spoken for. These shafts are made from 300M, some of the strongest material available for this particular application.
I know some of you have inquired about these shafts and have been waiting, patiently.
Here they are:
Keen observers will note that there have been a few changes....one of which was to have a corrosion preventative proceedure done. You might also note that the actual machining of the splined portion is slightly smoother....to decrease any chance of the clutch disc/discs "hanging up".
I've had a chance to study these shafts over time, now. One shaft that I exchanged for study had 48,000 miles on it....behind one of my high output engines. The areas where the clutch discs rode were literally "polished" and had no measureable wear.
Very impressive results!
The good news:
Despite the fact that I added more operations to produce this shaft, the production of this third batch of shafts was more efficient and the actual material is currently cheaper, therefore I can offer a limited quantity of these shafts at a reduced price of $325.00. (A new stock shaft is now over $500.00.)
The bad news:
Very limited quantities.

Are you still having that silver colored coating done on cam gears? I got to see a set of gears that you had coated and which had been running....amazing!
I'd like to send you "box" of gears to do for me, if you are still doing it.

Actually, this is something that Roger should sell...so sending him one for you will allow him to look at it, closely.

My GTS has Gregs stub shaft that I married to a new TT shaft, also supplied from GB, when I did the TT Constantine brg. project.
Both are pieces of art as are the bearings
All work flawlessly.

Greg,
Thanks for your extra effort regarding the shaft spline lubricant, and more importantly for taking the time to have these shafts produced.

I happen to have one of your torque tube shafts that works fine. Why TT shafts fail to me is, in general, clear.
Why is it that these particular parts fail? Maybe I read it once, but please remind me.
