Three 928 vehicles I happen to have laying around.

These forums are truly wonderful, are they not ?
I have edited the title of the thread so Poland doesn't get invaded again, or something.

"Found on the internet" is really not valuable. Someone, somewhere will have posted something that will support whatever position someone has on whatever the issue is.
While it's generally not nice to correct people's grammar, there is right and wrong. Here are three examples to help:
"I own two 928s."
"I am pulling my 928's engine."
"I have many 928s' parts in my garage."

At the risk of flogging a very, very dead horse, the reason I chose to use an apostrophe was to differentiate between the 928 and 928s models, so there was no confusion.
Anyway, now the pesky man on teh Interwebz has changed the wording of the topic so we can all go about our business in peace and tranquility once again.
I have taken the sage advice of the chaps here and will, no further than next weekend, attempt to sling a battery in the first beast, turn the I'm-not-even-sure-it's-the-right-key-but-it-seems-to-be-jammed-into-the-ignition-lock key and see what happens.
Then again, I might not.
I will put some pictures up too....once I figure out how to do such things.
Stay tuned !

So, question...if you guys had these things in the shed, what would you do. I want to keep one only (leaning towards the 1980 car but hey...) as a irregular driver. Sunday blasts into the hills, that sort of thing.
I generally prefer manual cars to drive, but hey, not in love with the idea.

Car 2: engine is toast.. broken cam means its bent valves ('85 16V is interference). auto box is not original (should have been 4-speed). This car is a parts car.. not much of the electrics is common (none) with the 80-83 928s motor, so I'd just ditch it whole to someone who wants a parts car, unless interior bits are worth swapping into #3
Car 3: best paint/body = this is your base..
Path of least resistance.. start by getting #3 running, and #1 engine running. If they both run, then great, you can sell a running engine.
With a running engine, time to swapping the 5-speed torque tube and transaxle into #3 car.. inspecting the input shaft and innards of the transaxle during the swap for damage. Then using the best interior bits from them all, and making #3 into a weekender. You will still need to dump in a lot of money, and rebuild the entire fuel system.
For EFI - lots of work to get that far. As an alternative check out franken-cis.. made by a guy in QLD, with a long thread on Pelican.
honestly.. unless you *really* want a 928 epic project and have a good workshop, lots of time, and lots of money, you're probably better off selling all 3 cars as a job lot and starting your hunt from scratch.

Looks like a good plan. Good paint and interior is where the real money is. Moving the engine and tranny over is not that hard, but start by making sure of what you have. It is likely that none of these cars will run right now as CIS motors don't much like sitting, but you can still check compression on at least two of them. Assuming you have a motor with good compression your biggest task may be rebuilding a fuel system, which is a matter of money. If you are up for a big smelly project you can can do the whole system for under $300. If you just want it done and over it can be $2000. You also might be lucky and have key parts that are not full of gummed up fuel. For about $30 you can find out.

Ok, what you are proposing is a pretty involved project.
So...
How much experience do you have doing this (combining several cars into one) of any type?
How much 928 experience do you have?
How well equipped is your shop? (air tools? lift?)
How big is your budget?
I don't need the answers to these, but you do. And unless the answers are: Lots, some, very well and big; you are likely getting in deeper than you realize.
Even if you understand what you are getting into, none of the cars are in "good" shape. You will likely need between $5k and $10k to get one car in good running shape. That's just in parts. It will take a fairly long time to do this too.
You would be far, far better from both a time and money point of view to simply get a decent running one.
You have a few different paths you could take. You could rebuild the third car, using parts from the first. Keeping the auto trans would be simplest. Converting an auto to manual is doable, but not easy. Also, the early manual boxes are known for synchros failing, with parts very hard to obtain. You could rebuild the engine in the 2nd car, using heads (with cams) from either of the other 2. Keep in mind that the S2 4.7 is an interference motor. If the cam nose snapped off while the motor was turning, you've likely bent at least a couple valves. The other engines have somewhat different cams, but it will work, and allow you to keep the LH/EZF fromt the S2. Otherwise, you will be going with the CIS/K-jet from the earlier cars. It works well when it works, but it will take a good bit of effort to get it working well since the cars have been sitting for a while (see karl's post).
Interiors are pretty interchangeable, you could take the best one and put it into the car you end up keeping.
If you just want to dive in and start turning wrenches, you could start by dismantling the first one.
Take it down to component parts and a shell. From what you describe, it's junk anyway. That will give you a high quality education in how a 928 is put together. You will find out which fasteners are corroded solid, which bolts tend to snap, which ones drive you bananas trying to get to. There are any number of threads detailing "deep restoration" projects on here. Read through a few of them.
Get the engine out and on a stand. You will want to pull the heads to change the head gaskets anyway. Leave the pistons, rods and crank in unless there's good reason to go that deep.
Again, all of this will give you a much better idea of what you are getting yourself into, free up some space (sort of anyway) and if nothing else, you can sell off whatever is good to generate some income to move forward.
There's a huge volume of knowledge on here. Much of what you need to know is available if you search through the threads. The rest is available if you ask nicely.
Good luck.
And FWIW, the apostrophe can be used to pluralize numbers, but they are so misused these days, that I consider anything other than contraction and possessive to be "wrong".

Uh, no it's not. The apostrophe is used in the possessive form only. It is never used to denote multiples - well, never unless you are unaware of proper punctuation.
Now you know what you used to know back in the 4th grade.

**** indeed.
Bought it up indeed. Swahili is a native english language?

Some truly excellent advice in the thread !
The plan (as it stands) is to firstly strip car number one and see what condition the driveline is in.
This is more than enough to be starting with. I intend to get cracking this weekend.
Stay tuned.
