Something jumped on the trailer...NEW! Engine pics!
Well - I am officially a member now! Very excited - and ready to get to work.
Ended up getting what I think is a very good deal, and I could always recoup the funds as a parts car...here are the vitals:
1983 928S - 5sp.
110K showing
No history
No major interesting options other than I405 Level Control System.
Does not run - timing belt and water pump are apparently rather new - dont know though until we can verify.
New tires
Spare ECU included with car as well as several relays - electricals are apparently suspect in the no start
Engine does turn over
Valley has a lot of oil in it.
Lots of corrosion on the main power line coming from jump post.
Jump post cover is missing - I know, I know....
Brakes and clutch apparently are ok...at face value anyways (Car stops and when you drop the clutch with it rolling it engages.
No tool kit or compressor.
Time to start taking loads of pics and make a plan of attack!
Looking forward to all of the advice and help from you guys - especially those in upstate SC!

I405
I guess I need to get under there and see. Would they be electronically adjustable? I don't see any switches out of the ordinary.
will keep you posted and it will be interesting to see if anyone else with an 83 has them.
medicpedic - followed your advice and tried to find one with a better interior as a starting point (better than the green one in Knoxville). We'll get the other gremlins sorted in due time.
thanks guys!

Alright, Scott, jump in there face first!
Contact Roger Tyson, get the Moorehouse CD's so you cab get started.
Concentrate on making it run, then go from there.
Everything you need to know is here on Rennlist, you just need to find it.
Welcome to the Tank!

Looks pretty typical so far. The dash and pod look nice. Good luck!

Edit Not so sure now ... might be headlight height adjuster near the handbrake ... but strange as I405 only appears on MY83 US and California cars, and I know it's fitted to earlier cars.

Hi Scott!
I have a house warming gift for your new 928! It is a replacement jump post cover and an original jump post cap. As a new 928 owner, someone gifted me a new jump post cover out of good will. I am paying that forward to another new 928 owner.
The jump post cover is in excellent condition. The jump post cap is in good, though very used condition. It is missing the lanyard and has a piece of the flange broken off. However, it is quite serviceable.
PM me your address and I will get it shipped to you.

Looks like a great project. Congratulation. Love the color, Kiln red I believe...good stuff. First things first, get after those rubber fuel lines under the hood and injector grommets.
Good luck!
Brian.

If you have not disconnected the battery yet, I would do so. Then check the wiring, the positive to the jump post and the wiring at the 14 pin connector look a bit old and tired.
Sometimes it's good to point out the obvious.

the adjust on the fly headlights were always illegal on USA spec 928s so not that !! even federalized Euros were supposed to have the system disabled....
