And a significant pile of CASH !! the 928 is now an OLD CAR !! old cars need fixing but much of what you will spend adds little to the value of the car. Not to mention but your 997 has more power and is faster than the outdated 1980s technology. It is really not much of a "thumping V-8" . Of course I just put 1,400 miles on a nearly new 2016 Mustang GT 6 speed....435 HP and 6 speed manual, it thumped pretty good for a $30,000 car with a warranty
I bet they only saw 1 928 this month, at best.

I like the "exclusivity" of the 928. I see more Ferraris and Lambos around here....often several in the same orange color. I have sensed some owners of these newer but common exotics are aware of this odd rarity reversal. I think it may even be a reason some folks who can afford anything are searching for a 928. I haven't seen another 928 on the road in months (not including Frenzy). For me nothing else is as INTERESTING.
The performance of the 928 isn't what drew me to it - even back when new. It was so radically different in design, innovations, etc. I read someplace that Porsche had to develop the paint that would work on steel, aluminum, and the poly bumper covers. Because 928s were so influential on the designs of later cars, it's easy to forgot how radical it was at the time. It's understated organic bulbous design was like a rolling spacecraft. The only other vehicles from the 1970s and 80s that still look somewhat modern today are TIE Fighters and X-Wing fighters
