I am interested in the whole shifter, what is the ballpark price on that?

Hans, I would buy one too. Are you getting close to the ten?

I'm in for one for my '79 rebuild at Greg's if it is available. If I want GTS boot on it, do I need a round one or the regular one?
Also, I am going to need a second one for here at home in the Northeast for my '78.
thanks-Hoi

I will look into making some round lever arms. I would only want to make one round option, 10 or 16mm?

I think we are close to 10 of the standard version. I can make a round lever available at a late time that would just swap in, but without a consensus on diameter (there is no standard for aftermarket shift *****) it will be tough to choose one everyone will be happy with I would propose either a 16mm clamp on style or a M10x1.25 threaded.

Lets the the business end of the shifter done, and everyone already has a stock **** and boot so they can get right to using the shifter and the adjustment features. The round lever arm should be a fairly inexpensive optional extra, and I will poll purchasers on the diameter, and make the more popular size.

I am excited to say we are past the critical mass on the short shifters as of this morning. This means I dont have to inventory and sets to meet minimums, so thanks for the support. I plan on putting in the order tomorrow afternoon to give a bit more time for anyone that wants one. The next time I will order more, I will need a run of at least 5 sets, as I will already own the fixtures/tooling/programming. If you want a shifter, now is a good time to make sure you get one in a timely matter.

So far, the overwhelming result of the round option has been to just postpone till later. I will get a quote for the M10-1.25 lever when I have the torque-tube pivot parts made. If we have enough interest, I will have them machined with those parts.

Thanks
Hans

Quick update on this project.

There was a couple day delay for a rush job at the machine shop, so I further refined the shift lever per some of the comments I had from several of you. The upper shifter body has been stepped so it is more tapered and will be less noticeable in the boot if you have the lever arm in the lowest position. It also gives more clearance for the stock rear selector rod.

I also finalized the first version of the torque-tube shifter pivot. This has been revised so it also uses the same style round spacers as the shift lever, so the upper pivot height can be easily adjusted in the car. I also shaved down the front pivot arm for additional clearance in the foam. Finally I modified the clamp so there is a tie-plate that can be used to lock the clamp in position relative to the original front rod guide.

I am sending this out for quote this afternoon. Installation will likely require the TT to be removed from the car, but I did try and make the clamp modular so it may be possible to install in-situ. The factory foam insulation will have to be highly modified. I do have a design for new foam, but not finding many good cost-effective ways to get them produced.

Here is the 3D web model:
