Default Oil Cooler Lines (German vs. OEM)

On MY upto 86, is there a big quality difference between OEM and aftermarket for these lines? Anybody using the German brand and doing ok?
German 928-107-037-M127 vs. OEM 928-107-037-05

The price point is a dramatic difference, which gave me pause...

Is this a "don't be stupid, you get what you pay for" or a "don't be stupid, you are paying twice as much for the name"?

opinion please

Where are you getting these hoses that there is a difference in price? I've only paid one price for the hoses.

Hey Sean, glad you got your ears on, wanted your opinion.

So vendor starting with a P has OEM for $334 and German for $185..

Vendor ending in a "itnl" only sells OEM, $295...

QE autoparts (fleabay) has German for $169...

Have not talked to Roger yet...

I used the German hoses, I was a bit worried that they were too long initially but they are quite sensitive to proper clocking of the fittings and went in fine once I got everything lined up. Pay attention to the how they are clocked before you dissassemble and you shouldn't have any problem. They are not Cad plated so not as pretty as even Porshe parts let alone GB's works of art but they seem to be at least as well built as you would get from a local rebuilder at a similar price. Of course YMMV.

928-107-037-05

Actually not a lot of choice as Porsche has them listed as NLA - suffice to say they are not available right now.

The German choice is OEM Cohline - so what you would get from Porsche but not in a Porsche box.

There are not a lot of companies out there making oil hoses for 928's.

After market may be the better choice long term and I sell sets of Greg's oil hoses with a SS braiding or a Kevlar cover.

I am pretty certain Mark @ 928 Intl carries GB hoses as well.

I just used AN adaptors and made up my own AN lines from Summit Racing. Happen to live in the ATL area so a trip to Summit was easy.

Thanks Kevin, that looks good, and sounds like a viable option, especially if NLA per Roger. I guess that explains the price difference too.
Dave, that's a good idea, didn't occur to me at the time.

Thanks guys.

Hi do you remember what size these fittings are. Size and thread type?

Thanks

Greg

The std adaptors - into the cooler, male M20x1.5, sealed with a face Oring; into the hose - male, M25x1.5, taper sealed. I had my hoses rebuilt with original ends by a local Ryco outlet, but didnt save much against genuines, but it was a few years ago now.

I had both of mine rebuilt last week here in Atlanta for $168 for the pair. Not as pretty as Greg's, but I could not source stainless steel braided hose in the correct ID.

928 International does not stock my pieces. They occasionally order something, but very infrequently. (I've got individual clients that order more.)
Best bet is the contact Roger, as he generally has inventory or we drop ship, for him.

Thanks for that. I am just trying to create a jumper cable between the engine oil cooler hoses to take the radiator out of the equation as I chase a potential oil leak into the cooling system. I have another thread on it. But I have certainly had Gregs stuff in mind once that is sorted and hopefully its not a head gasket issue. Once I am in the clear..fingers crossed I can go ahead with my engine bay refresh. Because of my location...Australia and postage costs I need to be fully clear of what I need and hopefully do it in one hit.

Hopefully I haven't created much of a diversion from the original thread.
