Dealbreaking statements in for sale ads

People think it would allow someone to track down where they live and steal the car. It's a pretty far-fetched assumption since your licence is on public display all the time, but it has happened and like many things in our over-scared society today, people are deferring to be more cautious.
I usually am cropping photos of my cars when I put them online so I'll take the time to delete the plate, but I also don't care enough if I miss it to make a big deal. More recently I've stopped altogether.

Love it when the first photo is a complete car in the driveway....all the rest show it as it is NOW in a million pieces mid "restoration". followed up by a photo of a different car showing what it could look like after $$$$$ and years of your time.

Great idea since California plates add value to old cars...the general lack of salting the roads or much rain means far less body rot and corroded undercarriage hardware....

Generally the California sports car market is overheated all the time. Cars here sell for thousands more than elsewhere, but the appeal doesn't travel. No one would pay above market to ship a 928 from California to Georgia, but if the same car can be sold within state lines the price is usually going to be higher than a national average.

Yea I live 3.8 miles from the Pacific Ocean and my old very brown 1980 has been parked out side for all the years that I have had it.....the ONLY rust issue around the 1/4 window and rear hatch is on the passenger side from the lawn sprinklers. I have looked at hundreds of cars in California and purchased many for my daughter to sell. Rust here is usually pretty minor. We did buy a 308 at an estate sale none running lost key that had a bit of rust but the guy lived at the beach in Malibu right on the sand with a car port. But most was surface rust and I got it running with no issues You can be in L A County and be 80 miles from the ocean literally in the desert.
Last few years we are getting around 10 inches of rain a YEAR which qualifies as being a desert. It is only green around here because of all the irrigation water taken from the Colorado river and northern California.
One of the reasons I left northern Indiana to move to California was I hated seeing the cars melting from all the salt.....

Here's a real gem, on soooo many levels. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-928-...=322237906040;
Love an obvious field car where the seller is asking nearly good GT money. But its a project, and all you have to do is email the seller for details. He must think the values have reached 356 levels.

I've seen cars that spent all their life at the beaches near LA and had pretty much zero rust. Sports cars or any car in California were always cheaper than up here therefore, our family has several from that state.
Cars from Florida is another story, totally different environment than CA. FL is very humid because it's pretty much a swamp and that does make cars rust more. I had cars from there too.
