A few years ago excellence fetured an early 928 bored and stroked to 350ci . they used 944 heads, said they flowed better.

Mark,

You can put 944 heads ona 928.

BUT....

The first concern is valve clearance. If you are using a 2v euro motor it should not prove an issue though I have never done a "dry fit" of that exact assembly so I would not be 100% sure. You'll have to assemble the heads and then do a valve clearance check.

The second issue is not a big deal, but does require some machine work and fab/weld up, and that is the water jacket port on the head. One bolts right up, the other side has to be flip-flopped - sorry, it's been a while and I don't recall which is which.

Other than those two, and the obvious head gasket issue as well, it's a fairly straightforward swap.

Yes, you have to use 928 cams (which can be cut to any 944/951 grind), but otherwise pretty straightforward.

FWIW, I would lean toward the turbo head, esp if you plan on boosting it.

Mark, not sure which combo woul have the best flow numbers or give the broadest torque curve.
I mean if the 944 heads flow better will you lose lowend power.
Would it be cheaper to extrude hone you Euro head and skip all the "flip flop" of water inlets.
I say you dyno before and after the 944 swap and let us know the real deal. You know I am only 120 miles from Pensacola I will help test.
