Wow, stunning. These types of sales will continue to drive interest to the lesser ones, increasing all values by some amount.

The Holbert car is resting quietly, hopefully with parts and pieces slowly accumulating, so it can be "restored" for the growing special-interest 928 market. Guessing by the condition it was in as it rode east, the key may be having an identical street car available, so that everything except the main center body section with VINs can be available for replacement. More than a few "famous" competition cars have been crashed, parted, ignored and left in fields to rust... Only to be "brought back" to original glory with replacement panels and pieces.
It would be cool to locate the original engine and include it in any resto efforts.

Value threads are interesting. In my world, a deal is only when two people agree on a price. Don't like/want to pay the price, then no deal. Or, on the other side, don't want to sell at the price countered, then it's no deal, either. It's that simple.
On Monday of last week, while browsing the local Craigslist ads, I found a vehicle listed at about 50% the price it "should" have been offered. I figured it was a scam, and pics were not that great. Anyways, bored on Thursday, the ad was still up, so I messaged the seller. It was a real deal.
Met the seller on Friday, inspected the vehicle, and asked if he wanted to sell right away. He did, and immediately countered his own listed price by another 20%. I said he was close to my price in mind, where he asked, and we settled in between. I do not buy at the auctions, as having been in attendance, I know what's going on...
I guess my point is that I don't pay what delusional seller list for on the internet. I have a price in mind, and a max I will spend on something. And when a good deal is looking me in the face, I am prepared to act.
That said, the provenance of the Bell CS 928 inflates over any other 928 (including the fluffed GTS pricing right now), and probably doubles the "normal" CS price, for the right person. Not all buys need to be considered. Anyways, there's my 2c.

Anyone with info on these cars?
"The second world record price at the sale was taken by the ex-Derek Bell Porsche 928 Club Sport factory prototype. As just one of the five built (and three thought to still exist) and given to Porsche factory drivers, this 928 sold for €230,000."
