Default 1987 CS - Ex Derek Bell for sale - estimate $250k -$290k

There will be a sale (The Zoute Sale) in Belgium on the 7th October 2016 for the ex- Derek Bell 928 CS (1 of only 5 built). Bonhams have estimated the price to be between 225,000-265,000 euros

Factory Sport Seats (You know: The ones with extra lateral support!)

Old-timer reference there...

Oh by all means, lets measure the value of the fleet by a special edition, low mileage, near-flawless collectors edition 1 of 7 with pedigree.

Right - that's equitable.

/sarcasm

Rather have this:http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/5657463047.html for 1/100th of the price.

But - that's me, it takes all kinds.

Half sport seats

The upper part is a real sport seat.
The lower part is a non-electric regular seat (of a 944 or 911), except the cover of course.

These seats are typical of the 928 CS, even if at least two cars were ordered without (one with regular sport seats, and my former car with regular electric seats).

Curious, where would you have put the estimated value of this car if Bonham's had not done so? And yes, I know that the Bonhams numbers are pre-auction estimates, and who knows what it will actually sell for or if it will hit its reserve and sell at all.

I think you're gonna remain curious, cuz you're asking the wrong guy. I'm not Bonhams, or even Barrett Jackson. I'm the guy who bought a semi-wrecked beater with no side window off CL 2000 miles from home for $1800 and drove it back.

I like fine cheese(WI cheddar), and white wine(White Zin). I do own a silk Ascot, and have some penny loafers neither of which I've worn in >20 years. So, don't ask me about that stratified market cuz I'm too damn dumb to unnnerstan'.

But I know this. Using this car as any kind of data point for the 928 value is likely going to prove - disappointing. i.e.; "My non-running, rusted, missing interior, tree growing through front, yard-art 928 is now worth $16,000 because the same thing just sold for $280,000 at auction".

I'm thinking about going just to see it, but I don't know anything about auctions. Would it be like a Barret Jackson on TV and you can walk around the cars before they go up for auction?

Careful, fishing in dangerous waters around here. Only upbeat, and positive statements about the 928 allowed.
