20th Annual 928 Frenzy - Sept. 23-25, 2016

I think Greg's main concern was not having shelter if it rains, followed by wanting to have Frenzy closer to the best part of the Fun Run. I found a location that met the criteria he was looking for - but finding a new hotel remained a problem. I don't think it's too late to reverse the decision. Folks should let Greg know if they prefer to keep it at Odds and Ends.
I've spent a good amount of time scouting for a new site and new hotel, but keeping people happy is #1 priority. Or, stated another way - feeling any sense of disappointment directed at me is not how I want to experience Frenzy. I'd rather stand in the rain.

Darryl at Odds and Ends has been in the loop on the plans, and he is happy to support Frenzy this year. So, there will still be plenty of 928 owners at his place on Friday afternoon for the Wash and Shine.

Yes.
Greg asked me to look into finding a location farther west to eliminate the long drive in traffic just to get to where the FUN in the Fun Run starts, and find a location with rain shelter for 75-100. Franklin Park is IN the Fun Run area that folks enjoyed last year and we have a large pavilion with tables adjacent to a large parking area.
We looked at several hotels in the Leesburg area. None offered group rates under about $115. The reason is the Middleburg horse show is the same weekend and ALL hotels will sell out in Leesburg. None of the hotels had a restaurant/bar inside (What would folks do on Thursday and Friday night?). My gut was very concerned that horse loving guests, Leesburg Police, and the hotel management would not tolerate a fast cooler and libations in the parking lot after dark. At some point I told Greg I think many folks come to Frenzy looking forward to Friday night in the hotel bar and Saturday evening in the parking lot with people they haven't seen for a year. The Holiday Inn is in an industrial area and the meat people won't complain (does anyone think it's a coincidence that they always share the hotel with us?). I felt from the beginning that a Frenzy without the cooler and revelry in the parking lot would be a disappointment - it's become a tradition. Poor Beerfish...we'll never see his awesome 928 again...the cooler doesn't fit in it.
The drive to Franklin Park at 9:00-9:30 takes about 25 minutes - straight west on Rt. 7. Actually, the total driving distance remains about the same as last year - we're just being more efficient and tactical about when we are on the roads, and breaking it up into chunks so that 100% of the Fun Run is FUN!

For those of us who are flying in, any volunteers to chauffeur us around? I'll buy some gas/beer etc.

This seems to me as a good change up and I'm really looking forward to it. You guys deserve a huge THANK YOU for all the hard work in making Frenzy an awesome 928 gathering.

A big thanks to you guys for organizing such a great event.
I've been there the past four years if I remember well and hope to be there for many years to come!
THANK YOU!

1st Frenzy
Gentlemen,
I would like to go, but I don't have a car yet. Hopefully, this event will get me over the hump! This year looks to have the stars aligned for the 928 purchase, and the wife is on board! She is actually encouraging the purchase.
I am not sure how to sign up officially yet, but I look forward to viewing these cars in person and meeting the folks I have been reading about for the last few years.
Looking forward to September,
Rick

I attended my first Frenzy before I even knew I would fit in a 928 and well before I found my car. Come on out on Saturday and you will find lots of 928 guys who just "might' want to talk about 928's, give you some good advice and maybe even a lead or two. Hell, you might even find a car to buy.

I think you will really enjoy your first Frenzy. We are a friendly bunch, so you can be sure you will receive a warm welcome!
It will be a while before the registration web site is up and running. I'll make a post here when it's ready to go.
