20th Annual 928 Frenzy - Sept. 23-25, 2016

I sent an email out to all the Frenzy attendees to find out whether they were planning to attend Oktoberfest. I received a small number of replies from folks saying they had other plans. So, I think we will end up with around fifty-five 928s at Oktoberfest. It will be tight, but we should be able to fit that many cars into our reserved area on the Green.
I also received several replies from attendees saying they would be willing to park off-Green, if that would help. So, I appreciate those offers.
Here's what I think will work. Those attendees who feel it's important to have their car on the Green should position themselves to be in the first half or 2/3rds of the Fun Run departure group. Those who wouldn't mind parking off-Green, please fall in toward the end of the pack.
So, our goal is to fit everyone on the Green that wants to park there. But how smoothly this actually works out remains to be seen. So, please be patient and flexible when we reach Lovettsville.
We're planning to do something of a "928 Parade" as we roll into Lovettsville, attempting to form clusters of six to ten 928s as we come north on Berlin Pike into town and then take the route shown shown above in post #212.
If you're not doing the Fun Run, please do not head to the Green on your own. We want to all get there at approximately the same time. My suggestion would be for you to hang out at Franklin Park for about an hour, following the Fun Run progress on Glympse, if you'd like. Once the 928s start rolling by the Franklin Park exit, you can join in with the middle or rear of the pack, in line with the parking considerations mentioned above.
I'm sorry this is all a bit complicated, but if things work out according to plan, it's going to be an amazing sight.
Regards,
Greg

As always Greg, well thought out and explained. Without some degree of pre-planning, this would surely turn into a cluster

Thank you Greg, JP and Jon. Everything is thought out well and I'm sure will work out great. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone and having another awesome Frenzy experience. I'm sorry if I ruffled anyone's feathers. That wasn't my intention.

Hey guys, can we do a group photo at Oktoberfest or something, my son will be comming with me and will probably bring his Nikon camera with tools and lenses and I can ask him to take a picture of all of us at once, what do you think ? I would love it !
Also he will be going around I'm sure to take pics of cars and more.

I believe, one way or another, FAA notwithstanding, I can get an aerial shot of everyone together with their cars from the drone. Jon has a designated photo spot on his map. There will probably be too many potential innocent victims on the Green. I promise not to crash hard into any 928s.

I hadn't thought about a drone. That's a great idea. Rural VA shouldn't have a problem with a short & sweet drone flight - whether at Franklin Park or at the Oktoberfest. I'd grab my son's Parrot, but I'm a novice and wouldn't want to take my learner's course flying over $2 million worth of 928s.

See my post above (#212). The group photo spot is marked on the map. Great opportunity for your son to get some nice pictures.

Instead of deciding now that you'll park offsite at Oktoberfest, I'd wait to see just how tight things are at the Green on the day of. I'm guessing that an hour or so before heading out on the Fun Run, Greg will have a pretty good idea as to whether the Green can accommodate everyone who wants their cars to be onsite.
It'll be tight, but we all may be able to fit.

Toll Road
If you have an E-ZPass transponder, I suggest you bring it. The fastest way from the Holiday Inn to points west (Franklin Park, Lovettsville and Summit Point) is to use the Dulles Greenway, a very nice 65 MPH toll road. If you don't have an E-ZPass, no problem, they also have toll booths that accept cash or credit card. Only the main toll plaza accepts cash (8am to 8pm). The exit ramps are not manned and do not take cash.
