Bought another fixer upper from Eric. Cleaned her up and she's looking good
Going to restore this '78 no sunroof manual back to as close to stock as I can.
The damage is not all that bad, it needs that rear inner sheet metal replaced, battery box section is good, metal above gas tank is slightly bowed, the fenders and hatch all line up and the doors open and close like they should. I found a local shop that specialize in restoring at a concourse level damaged race cars from the 60's, need them to tell me how much of the rear they need (where they want it cut) then source that section, thinking 928 International may be able to help with that for a '78, not sure when it changed(tool box).
Been taking inventory on all the removed interior bits, I'll let my son handle all the interior re-due as he works at Classic 9, we're thinking replacing the seats w/ Blue&Tan Pasha and leather.
Car runs and drives great, thanks goes out to the original owner who put in all the before crash work!
My son and I will be driving it around this summer working out any bugs, hopefully I can get on the schedule for the sheet metal work
Dave K
PS: I'll start a new thread on the sheet metal repair, the shop is in the same complex, so we can push the dissembled car to them

Damn... that was a nice car! Hope you get her back to safe and reliable. Be a shame for it to be parted out. When we move to Fenton, MI, I'd like to check her out

Congratulations Dave for going after this one!
Is this really the same car that started this thread? Must be a low serial number car to have had the metal gas cap!
Is it still there?

Really glad to hear this one is saved. Sorry about the interior job I did a million years ago. But the mechanicals should make up for that. I was really shocked that the '78 stock cams didn't seem to make much difference from the Euro S ones.

Hi Dan, oh don't be sorry I thought it looked just fine. I wish it wasn't removed before I bought it as many of the fittings have been lost.
As for the way she runs it starts right up and is surprisingly quick with no leaks, even the AC still is in working order
I'm waiting on the sheet metal guy to give me a green light to get it into his shop to replace the three main parts.
# 6, #8 and #9 Rt side, I'm not sure what part #7 is (I don't need the rear bumper) if i't not then I'll need that too.
Hopefully can source from an early car as the Tool compartment changes.
Once that is done all the interior (now sitting in boxes in my basement) will go over to classic 9
Edit: updated post w/ full diag of parts needed, also spoke w/ Mark at 928 International, part #6 and #7 are still available from Porsche.
Marked updated me that #8 and #9 are NLA
Thanks Mark
