Really sorry for your loss, glad no one was hurt of course. Get a opinion from a good frame/structural shop, it may be fixable if it didn't get into rear suspension area, or roof isn't wrinkled. How are the door gaps ,are they tight? It's hard to give up on such a nice example you have had for so long. There is a '85 donor shell with rear hatch, I could hook you up with in Charlotte for metal weight price, with a rear hatch if you need it. But you can probably find one locally without having to ship so far.

So sorry about your car, Dan. Of course it's great nobody was seriously hurt. I'm not sure how well I would cope with all that happened, and thinking about my son's guilt and my wife's wild ride. It sounds like you are giving it thought and will act appropriately on all levels.

The car is as bad as it's going to be, your wife is going to be more sore tomorrow than she was today. I would focus on her for the next couple of days and make sure she's on the mend, then figure out the next step RE: the car and insurance.

I don't know how I missed this thread. So sorry Dan for this event. And I hope your wife has recovered well from her injuries. The son, is he still walking among us? I suspect he is. Glad to see the car will not be crushed.

I am shocked I didn't see this thread. I saw the car on ebay and actually was watching it. I have a rear clip.

Update. Car is in Michigan. Anyone have a hatch and rear bumper they want to donate/sell cheap? The body shop said there is a good chance she can be saved

It it looks like Guy has already offered a rear bumper but I have one as well. Color is black, no tears, subtle warpage. Just let me know if you want it for the cost of shipping.
