Default External Temp Sensor

Hi,

I spent yesterday fixing and testing the vacuum side of the HVAC and it's all working perfectly now. But there was constant heat coming from the vents which I traced to the outside temp sensor under the headlight being open circuit.
I've just shorted the wires together for now and it turns on/off the heat with the slider and I can hear the stepper motor moving so the internal sensor and slider are working.
I can't seem to find a replacement sensor anywhere, are they no longer available and if so has any one used an equivalent part with the same spec?

Thanks for any help,
Gary

Did you already contact 928 International to see if they have a good used unit?

Hi Mike,

I didn't, figured a used one from the same era probably doesn't have much life left so was hoping for a new equivalent. If there's nothing then I'll check thanks.

Search the forums. People have found thermistors that are replacements and simple resistors that fake-out the control head.

The sensors are pretty robust and relatively well protected by nature of their location as long as the wheel arch liners are in place. A good used unit will likely last a long time.

Yes - I'd not worry about age of a used one if the condition looks OK - try 928 international.

Thanks for the responses guys, I'll track down a used one. I know the outside thermistor has less effect than the inside one but I'd like to get the correct spec rather than faking it if I can....for sensible money.

That sensor has been on eBay before and didnt sell. The buyitnow price has been reduced by $10. I recently bought one on eBay for €40. Well worth the cost in my opinion.
I suspect not more than a dozen 928's in Ireland, but I couldn't be sure. There might be one or two advertised for sale every year but I've never seen another one on the road while out and about.
I imported mine from the UK.

Gazfish - that's mine on eBay. I'll sell direct to you and you won't have to deal with eBay's international shipping. Shoot me a PM if interested and I can close the auction. Thanks
