I need to refresh my cam cover seals, cam chain rub blocks and intake too or I'll be 928-less. But that shouldn't take long, so we should be able to get your car ready too.
Thanks for the offer Bill, I will definitely take you up on that! Now I gotta go shake the money tree...

So, did anything else get hurt when the water pump pooped out? If you don't know, we can do a water pump and timing belt and check leakdown. Week after next is open.

As far a I can tell the pump still works, it's just dribbling coolant thru the weep hole & down the front of the oil pan. No bad sounds or anything like that, in fact was running great.

Ok, that's relatively good news. So, you need a pump and maybe it would be a good time to to the timing belt, depending on how many miles you have on it. Anyway, let me know if you want to tackle this sometime before the picnic.

Just a bump, looking forward to our first Tilden Park round up. I guess I will attend a Good Guys car show in Pleasanton on Sunday. 3-4,000 cars and lots of vendors.

Bill,

Just in case you didn't know, I'll be there with my wife and daughter. I plan to be there in the S4.

Getting close. Now, I just have to get my car back on the road. Hate doing the cam covers, engine in the car. AND I found that 6 of my newish 4 hole injectors had lost their pintle caps. Fortunately, the engine seems to eat them pretty easily. Probably will reinstall my original factory injectors which never had this problem. I could reinstall the 4-holes w/o pintle caps, but the bottom o-rings and spacers won't stay in place w/o the cap.

Look forward to seeing everyone. Mark, it would be nice to have you and your very durable race car attend again.

Bill:

How did you remove the inejectors?

Ive found that removing them on "softish" Orings, the rings can push the caps off at that time.

Yeah, I think that's what happened. I've always removed the injectors still clipped to the rail. So, it looks like the lower o-rings were stuck well in the manifold and they pushed off the caps. That never happened once with the original injectors. So, the caps do not seem as secure on the 4-holes. Guess I should change my injector removal technique. AND, that means the pintles might still be uneaten down in the heads. Guess the manifold should come out too then. I was going to do that later.

The o-rings don't look soft and are not that old. They might be a bit large. They are loose around the injector and won't stay in place w/o the cap. Outer diameter is supposed to be 16.5mm IIRC.

Ya..the caps are...not super secure..and odd fitting Orings on removal will do that.

That wont affect their USE, and ya, the engine eats the nylon without any hassle. We're way not the first people to run in to that.
