I would hunt and peck at it from the diagrams. Better to wait for Greg to find the relay location and the jumpering. He's done the swap, and my learning curve would take more time.

Don't forget about the coding plug.

I jumpered the Ims relay according to how to do it in a other thread it has power to a1 and a2 it has power supply from w23 I have 12v on injector plug and also the fuel pump runs with the key on that is where I am now.I have the correct coding as diagram shows so I think I have made some progress.

Try your noid light on one of the injectors, see if it'll pulse. Keep the battery on a charger so you get good batt voltage.

I tried the noid tester on both sides and I get a blink when I turn the key from start to off and that is all it does. It doesn't go neg voltage on the one side of the injector plugs. The pin on the left hand computer stays pos12 v.

There is power going to the maf ,the both igniters and like I said the injector plugs. But I don't know why it will not fire.I will check for signals with my oscilloscope.

As was said earlier, you have to make some changes to the wiring in the fuse panel before this will work. For example (and this was the only one I have traced out, there could be many more), in the '86 plug W22 provides 12V to the LH through the starter relay only while cranking, but in the '89 plug W22 provides 12V continuously from the battery.

I bet your LH isn't powering up which is why you're only getting power to one side of the injectors. The LH makes the connection to ground for the other side, and it isn't turning on because of the differences in the fuse board wiring between '86 and '89. Or, it seems like it wants to start because you're powering it up while cranking, but as soon as you stop cranking, that 12V goes away.

That's just one of the wiring things he needs to sit down and figure out.

That is why I have been asking for help as I am wiring challenged I have trouble remembering reading the diagram. Yes you are correct about getting the voltage to stay on it is not when the engine is cranking.when I put 12 v go the w23 the starter cranks.

I'd be happy to help out with the wiring diagrams, but would you feel comfortable making the changes behind the fuse panel? That thing is a rat's nest of wires. I'd rather not spend the time tracing the circuits if it's not going to help.

TBF car, got a later motor and harness/computers. can't get it to run due to the wiring for the CE being wrong. and/or non standard wiring messed up the computers. re installed the early harness and parts, but had the wrong crank sensor wheel, to much work to switch, so back to the late harness.
