One of the hottest girls in the small town I grew up in had a red one.
I still get excited to this day when I see one, it's just a Pavlovian thing.
She was a bad, bad girl you guys.

I had an 81...drive the ever living hell out of it! It was kick ***! Bought it for 750$, put 60k miles on it, and then sold it for $1000

Fast , fun, and disposable! I put struts on the front, tires, and had to replace the CE about 5 times (with junkyard replacements) in the span of a year.

One of the most fun cars I have owned!

I was tempted in buying a Corrado but instead I bought the 81 928 I drive today as my first car.

I still wonder what it would have been like to mess around with a VR6.

I had an 82 then an 85 as my first and second cars starting at age 16 or 17. Third was a 944, and fourth was the 928.

Back in the days when I was souping up my MK I Golf... we used to call Sciroccos the Sciroccosaurus... because they died out

A MK 1 Scirocco was about as light as you could get! Better looking than the MK II, in my opinion...

I bought a 76 Scirocco in 1979. Silver with a black interior. I replaced the stock carb with a sidedraft Weber, had the engine balanced and a 3 angle valve job on the head. I installed a stiffer cam and a tubular header feeding an Ansa exhaust. Also installed Koni struts on all four corners, shorter/stiffer springs, front and rear anti roll bars, front strut tower brace, and a lower control arm brace. I really enjoyed driving the car for about 5 years before I sold it to buy a new 1984 Pontiac Fiero. (I still have an 88 Fiero GT, also a fun car....)

...off topic, I also had a 82 VW pickup, swapped the trans to a GTI, and dressed the rest of it as a GTI.
.....(true story), when the county sheriff bitched me out for making him chase me, he said He almost crashed trying to keep up.
....yeah, I grew up in the dukes of hazard days.
....
That was the first time,
You'll never believe me when I tell you about the second time.

We have an '88 16v Scirocco in the garage.

Great video. I can't say anything about those that came before it, but I agree with the dude in the video. The 16v Scirocco is special and far more than the sum of its parts.

Had a 77 Scircocco GTI as my first car back in 88. Failed annual test after a year due to rust and had to scrap the car. Replaced it with a 76 Scirocco TS that was even worse with rust. Fantastic "gocart like" car to drive but rust loved them in Sweden. Would like to find a good Mk1 one day.
