Damn Alex - you snagged a beauty! Congratulations my friend. I cannot wait to see it live! I really thought about this one for myself.

Now I'm generally really screwed as I was planning to do some wrenching and get a couple REALLY ready for sale so when the winter storage is up they would be outta here (need the money to go into the '78's) but it's all on hold with my back issue for now, (I can only do very minor things for the moment) - will have to get some really good help from my friends or pay the long dollar to a mechanic on eves to get over here. May recruit my kids into child labor as well (God knows I do enough for them).

Alex, I am within 45 min of Stan's place, so you are more than welcome to park your cars on my yard while they are waiting to get the "Stan treatment". I will also sacriface by warming them up and drive them once a week too to maintain their engine lubed up.
Just saying....

You caught me! Managed to get an early one (95th one built) - very complete with tool kit, spare cover, early style rear cargo cover, radio gone :-(, early enough that no side markers and single mirror - on way to NY now - but to storage for a bit till I get my back hopefully straightened out and the rest of the car life organized - just couldn't pass this special car up..don't have a plan for this one yet...

Guess we'll let you slide on this one....since I only have two...and my plans change daily for them. And yes...there are those days when dynamite, five tons of urea fertilizer, a quarter stick of plastic explosives, spool of wire and a nicely charged battery are involved in some of the exit "plans" for these two cars...lol. Granted, this is usually after spending time on the rubber fuel lines under the hood.
And yes...after mentioning those ingredients, for my car "plans", my name is probably being added to some government watch list at this very moment...or upgraded.
Looking forward to seeing some pictures of the new one(s).
Brian.

Well, update on the car. Bought and paid for, PO was kind enough to get the car to Sean Ratts place for a go through, then off to Roger's for storage until I can get there. As driving is one of the only things that my back seems to take in stride lately, I'm thinking I will pick it up at Rogers, go to SITM, then up to see Jim Doerr in Richmond for a couple cold pops, and then head home. 1826 miles. So Sean is trying to talk me into selling him the car, but after the "Chiffon" Panorama article I'm currently smitten, having never laid eyes on a chiffon car. Even though car was taken care of meticulously, Sean found this:
Very glad that Sean found a couple days to go through this car -looks like my life may have depended on it!
Couple more pics sean took for my insurance company:
Starting to dig the pinstripe....
Not as nice as the 2000 mile car in Panorama, but this one is getting DRIVEN

In reality, I've never been a pinstripe fan - but- I'm going to wait and see on this one. Every car has a story and the stripe is a part of this car's.

Pinstripes were a dealer add on in many places back then. It was a way to add several hundred dollars to their bottom line at a cost of almost nothing. Other such "value adds" were Ziebart rust proofing and ScotchGuard carpet and seat treatments. I fondly recall a dealer trying to add almost $3500 to the price of a new Corvette for those options in 1982 As I best recall fiberglass doesn't much rust, and the car had an all leather interior, other than the carpets...... heck of a deal.....
