1st preference: No decals. This is a clear case of "Less is more".

If you have to have one, it would be a choice between the all black ones (or one in all silver, if you like it more subtle). I would not mix colors - it gets too much, expecially with the GTS reflective strip between the tail lights. And the red would scream "Rice!" on your horizon blue.

I think #12 is the nicest because the "S" swoops nicely under the "928", and id does not leave any visual "holes".

Hello Nicole,

Yes, rice was one of my primary concerns here. I think that is why I have scratched #11.

That being said, I think that I have narrowed my choice down to #9. I just love the red "swoopy" S. If Porsche puts it on it's 2004's, I think it is good enough for me. It is the only thing from an 04 that I can afford!

Watercooler,
I'm glad rice contamination was on your mind...whatever you choose will look fine, I'm sure. Just don't install a cluster of guages down your driver's side A-pillar or cold air injection intake in your front bumper or a halon fire extinguisher on your passenger side A-pillar or any decals that read "type-S" (or for that matter "type-anything")....ad nauseum. Fuzzy dice are cool though...

Cheers,
Tim

Tim,

I lived in the "rice car" capital of Canada for 3 years (Richmond, BC). No worries here mate.

Mind you, ever since I've had a 944 and 951 I have always had a fire extinguisher hidden in my trunk.

Tough to beat the OEM look. You might want to check out the "928 Decals" thread.

I vote for the factory way. They do it best in my opinion.

Hello all, and thanks for all your input on the emblems.

I have the car back from the body shop and have installed the interior. So I have finally gotten around to taking a few pics of my new emblems.

It is a little funny actually. I had changed my mind on the color of the emblems just prior to the painter painting them. Originally I had chosen option #11 (gray 928 and 4, red S), but I changed to #9 (black 928 and 4, red S). It turns out that the painter did not get the message and painted option # 11.

I can honestly say though, that now that I see the emblems on the car I personally prefer the gray and Red.

Here is how the emblems worked out.

If you chose to respond, please be kind, the paint has dried.

I like the raised letters a lot.
Not sure about the colors, but the emblem itself looks very nice, and very stock,
even though it is custom! Glad you like it.! It looks slick!

Nice, watercooler, it looks good.

To be honest, I can see all sides of the argument here - I understand why some want to leave it original, and there is something very good about keeping it that way - its certainly the way i feel about my machine. But as i think someone said in another thread, there are broadly two categories of owner: Ones who want to keep it orignal and ones who want to update the car to perhaps what Porsche would have done had they continued the model. This certainly seems to fall to the latter, and its a fine look youve got.

One word, SEXY! I agree with Badger "there are broadly two categories of owner: Ones who want to keep it orignal and ones who want to update the car to perhaps what Porsche would have done had they continued the model". Looks great, and gave me some things to consider when I repaint my 86'. Gonna keep it factory color though. I kinda fall somwhere between an originalist and a customizer. But I like to keep things clean and simple.

I think some of the coolest mods, are by Sterling...
I like the idea of updating the 928 so it looks and drives like the 928 probably
would, if it were still being produced today... Updated look, engine, wheels, etc...

I like it when people take the cars out of the 80's and into the 2000's,
and no one knows the difference, and people ask about what model
of NEW Porsche you are driving...

Hard to get that kind of response with the checkerboard seats, or phone dials...

So I like the emblems, because they look new, not 80's style...

Thanks guys.

It is good to get input on things like this.

....to perhaps what Porsche would have done had they continued the model

Michael, wouldn't that be a sight!
