Default 1980 Euro S 5 Speed #1227 added to the stable

Just wanted to share some pics of the newest addition to the family, a 1980 Euro 928s, three owner, (First owner was president of Capitol Records in Germany, second imported the car to the US and was Chair of the Oregon State University Marine Institute. Third ran a commercial fishing operation in Newport Beach, OR). A ton of paperwork came with the car, including all import documentation. The car was imported under a 'one-time EPA exemption' (which expired in 1985) and thus has no changes to the drivetrain from the original Euro configuration (no cats, no 02 sensor, etc.). Guages still in KM's, (70k miles). It does have door beams, sealed beam headlights (soon to be changed for H4's), and added sidemarkers. The color is 'Tabac Metallic' and is original, and in very nice condition. Interior Brown Leather, power comfort seats with "uni-Stoffe" inserts which Jim Doerr called "Grandma's Couch", and CR radio. Was set up to run, as it was ordered with 310Hp "S", LSD, 5speed, sunroof delete, and is one of 29 from 1980 with M474 sport suspension, and, thankfully, phone dials.

Air Pump, bag, belts, spare.

Also came with, amazingly enough, a Vanilla Ice tape in the deck.

Had receipts for 6k of work at a reputable OR shop ("the Sports Car Shop") done late 2015 - TB/WP, all fluids (Brake/Clutch, oil, coolant, Diff.)

Still needed some love, mirrors, fan, drivers window, rear wiper already diagnosed and operating. Have been cleaning quite a bit, going to do CE refresh shortly. Car sits low, looks like a coil may have been taken out of front, and rear adjustable perches lowered to max. (probably why the spoiler has missing center section.) Clutch also hanging up a bit, likely the ball cup or adjustment. A/C not sure yet. Also has a weird VDO exterior temp gauge where ashtray/lighter used to be (I may keep this in place as it's kinda cool mod and part of the history of the car).

Hope you guys like it as much as I do!

Hershey is a maybe for the car - have to get the suspension back up to stock height (and I may have the shocks rebuilt by Bilstein) I don't want to bottom out and it's REALLY low in front (120mm) - looks cool as hell though! Clutch issues as well. And I'm hoping to bring Budd my minerva interior for a Pascha overhaul.

Congratulations, Alex.

It looks to be in exceptional shape. Looks like she still has a lot of cool goodies left untouched. What do you mean by...door beams? Or are you referring to the reinforcement panels inside the door?

Once you get her sorted out, bet she'll be a blast to motor around in.

Brian.

Gorgeous car! I was looking very closely at this car in Eugene and you have a score there. Price was very good. Can't convince my spouse about the car color even though the car was from her college town! Hopefully she runs as nice as she looks!

Congratulations!

Certainly, this is the most interesting '80 EuroS I've seen.
IMO, it has ALL the right stuff. Congrats!

That looks brand new! Someone took very good care of it and I LOVE the color combo with the cloth. Can you post a close up of the cloth? Looks to have a pattern in it.

Congrats...it found yet another great home.

Door beams are crash intrusion bars inside the doors...required in the USA at the time but not in Euros.
