Default Classic Shift **** upgrade - THOUGHTS?

Hey guys, several owners have requested the CLASSIC SHIFT **** with a 928 pattern, so I'm working to make that happen.

Have a look at the following and let me know your thoughts on which shift line layout you like better! The **** on the left is black Delrin with white paint fill, with a continuous shift line leading up to Reverse. The **** on the right is black anodized 6061 with bare engraving of the standard 5spd layout, flipped upside down to showcase what the alternate engraving design would look like, with a break in the shift line leading up to Reverse.

Which do you prefer???

Should be easy enough to photoshop the second example, using the first one as a starting point.

I like the anodized 6061 on the right, but I like the continuous line going to "R" as shown on the left

Thanks for the feedback!

Here are some of the other shift **** color/material and engraving paint-fill combinations. Silver or Black base, with Silver or Black 6061 and White or Black Delrin **** options. Paint-fill comes in White, Black, Red, or Yellow.

Man, I am digging all of these. I actually like the classic look of the delrin 1 on the left, like the yellow paint too.

Too cool.

Could you make a LED back-lit shift pattern?

I like them all but the silver with black fill gets my vote.

Hey guys, so we've made some progress with the 928 application, and we're now offering a Dog-Leg engraved pattern! Paint fill can also be added to further customize and highlight the look of the shift **** to match your car.

For full details and ordering info, please visit the CLASSIC SHIFT **** product page:

Thanks OP for what you're doing for the community. Have you ever given any thought for automatics? We currently have very few choices. In fact, I think it's about 3: 1) original T-handle, 2) Momo ball or stick, or 3) a Jager. And imho anything with chrome looks out of place as everything else on a stock 928 is black with white text.

Thanks for the kind words! A couple people in the 993 forum also inquired about a tiptronic shift handle option, but unfortunately the manufacturing entry costs are too high to be able to offer a reasonably priced solution. I know that a majority of the US 928 market is not manual, so I completely understand your request, but for the time being I only plan on offering a solution for the manual transmission equipped cars.

Any chance of adding blue to the inlay colors?

IMO Paul Champaign sells the best looking shifter handle for the automatics.

Custom colors aren't a problem. There would be a slightly extra charge for that, like $10. So as long we can find a color match for you, I can make that happen!

This reminds me a lot of the voodoo shift **** I got for my Honda S2000. The only reason I have not placed an immediate order yet is because the shift boot is all in one and its not as straightforward as just switching the ****.

What have other 928 owners done?

Here are some good pics from the 964 thread that Derek911 shared from his installation - it shows where to cut the OEM boot and what the finished product will look like!

Other members have purchased a new separate shift boot from 3rd party vendors such as Redline Goods. Color match is difficult, however, so be careful unless your interior is black, or you're planning on going with a deviated shift boot color.
