Don't know why but my sentence and paragraph breaks are not working. Hence, this thread is going to look a little goofy. New paragraph Now that the snow is starting to recede my wife and I are probably going to hang up the skis and are hoping to get our '87 S4 (manual transmission) back on the road. I've put out a bunch of threads about this problem last fall but, just by way of reiteration here's what has been going on: New Paragraph 1. The car will not start. 2. The car will start but not run when fuel is sprayed into the air cleaner. 3. The pump puts out plenty of pressure. The brain was tried on another 928 and functioned fine last fall. 4. The injectors are not firing. 5. The air flow meter was replaced (at a cost of almost $500) and that didn't do anything. 6. Battery is OK and juice is getting to the engine. New paragraph My engineering degrees are largely in physics and aerospace so I do not claim to have a whole lot of experience with automotive technology but, even a dumb aerospace guy can tell that if the juice is getting to the brain but not beyond the injectors, maybe there is no ground. So . . . can anybody give me explicit instructions where the grounding would be for the injectors and, if anyone has other good ideas, we'd love to hear them. Also, why can't I change paragraphs? New paragraph Incidentally, thanks to Jim for trying to help. Hope you had good skiing. Things are starting to get slurpy around here but more snow is supposed to be on the way. New paragraph Thanks to those who have tried to help, Barney

Hi Barney where is the car now?
have you replaced the 3 running relays?
What was the last thing that you fixed just before the car failed to run?
Please read this link carefully,
how to diagnose a non runner

Hello Stan: Sure wish you were still in Denver. The car is at Import Auto in Laramie (We're 30 miles west in the Medicine Bow Mountains). Which relays are you referring to?. If the fuel pump - yes. Other relays - no. Almost two years now but I think it was one of the two coils. Car ran fine for a while after that. Barney

come out to California.. tahoe just got another 2 feet of wet snow! ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
check all relays to make sure they are getting power. you can even jump some. go to my thread where the "boys" gave me all sorts of info when i was trying to help my friend with the 6 liter get started.... turned out he had a relay in the open socket.. big no no!!
key indicator that the fuel side is working, is the buzz of the fuel pump when you turn over the key.

Stan and Mark: 1. Where is the link you mentioned? 2. Which relays would be most likely. At 80 years young I don't crawl under dashes very well. 3. More snow coming in. Guess I won't have to put the skis away yet. llBarney
