Congrats! That's a nice car that used to be local to me (southeastern VA). Hope you enjoy it!

Chad,
Welcome to the 928 community. I think you will find it a wonderful group of guys/gals with very special cars. I don't know where exactly you are located, but hope you will find a way to get to one of the 8-10 'regional' meets that owners hold around the US. These are usually posted at the top of this forum as 'stickies' for a while. Check them out.
I also recommend you join the 928 Owners Club, and international club specifically for Porsche 928 owners and enthusiasts. See www.928OC.org for more information.
I reflect on your enthusiasm. I bought my '94 GTS when I was 69, and enjoyed driving it for 9 years before selling it. 2017 is the first year since 1998 that there has not been one or two Porsche 928's in our garage! Wonderful cars, and the owners/enthusiasts are even greater people.
Cheers,
Gary Knox

Does it have the "Do It Yourself" manual transmission, or the superior "Fully Equipped by Porsche" Automatic Transmission?

Don't take any notice of the delusional geriatric limey. We humour him around here in letting him think he knows what he's talking about The reality is the poor old chap just hasn't got it anymore when it comes to driving, needs a slush box to get around, and thinks everyone else should suffer the indignity too .. sad but true 8>) ![ducking](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/icon107.gif)

Dave in Tasmania, take it easy on Roger.
Blighty my man, as you should know, he shifts gears with his left hand/arm. THAT is very difficult here in one of the many countries where the steering wheel is on the left side of the car. He's had several crashes when he tries to reach across his body with the left hand to shift from 4th to 5th, wherein his large bicep strikes the bottom of the steering wheel - causing wheel to go anti-clockwise. Such rotation, results in the vehicle turning left, and this frequently results in his car hitting an oncoming lory. In his typical great consideration for the safety of all Texas driver's, he now chooses to use the more modern shifting mechanism.

Congrats. She looks nice. The GTS is a great ride and if well maintained by the PO's you should be good to go. I have been very fortunate with mine. Almost 0 issues since purchasing it in 2005.
I do admit I don't know of many 288GTO owners that lusted after a 928GTS. Usually it is the other way around. I only drove a 288 once I still think it is one of the sexiest cars ever made.
best luck with your new toy.
