'94 928 GTS Arrival & Introduction
Hello everyone,
Been a member for a bit but haven't made any introduction. I just bought this '94 GTS 5 speed from Porsche of Mainline in Philly. I've been fortunate to own some really great cars (F40, 288 GTO, Daytona) but I finally have the car that I've been thinking about for a couple decades. I'm 45, so the 928 has been an icon I've thought about for a long time, had the poster on my wall in middle school back in the 80's. I've had the car about a week now and it's truly something I look forward to seeing when I go into the garage in the morning. Surreal. They say never meet your hereo's but the drive was more than I imagined, it's really special.
Read the sticky thread about 928 ownership, the electrical issues seem a bit scary but if it starts in the morning, it's a step ahead of some of my past vintage red cars. Looking forward to getting to know more of you and contributing to this great community.

Right it is a really great DRIVING car !!! Little wonder so many actually have 100,000 ,150,000 , 200,000 plus miles on the odometers. They actually were meant to be driven

Welcome. That's a nice one.
You are in the right place for any questions or problems.
Most of the electrical issues can be kept at bay with simple preventative maintenance. Clean the grounds, change out the "important" relays every few years (they are pretty cheap), that sort of thing.

Pretty car! Nice intro as well...some of them lately seem to have more content about alt/9** pedigree than 928 content, so nice to read that you are enjoying it! With a 94, I don't think the electrics should be feared to any great extent- fingers crossed for you. Does it have hydraulic limited slip? And, observation- is ride height within spec? Looks a little hunkered down-- and looks great like that, just thinking it might be something to check at some point.

Congrats on getting your 928. They are great driving cars, I've had one since 1996 and still enjoy going out into the garage and seeing it there! Still brings a big smile to my face with every drive.

Welcome! Great to hear about your car, and that you're enjoying the experience. Love to see a few more photos. Mine is standard ride height and looks close to yours in clearance. GTS's do look 'hunkered down' as standard I think ... perhaps the rear flared guards and wider track which seem to give a more planted stance.

Congratulations! I was wondering if someone bought that car, since the dealer took it off their website recently within the past 2 weeks. That dealership is down the street from me and it is well respected here. I'm sure you got a PPI before splurging on this 5spd GTS. Beautiful!

Chad - As I mentioned in our PM exchange, I think you bought one of the nicest examples out there, a truly investment grade GTS. Congrats again.
I'm 47 and have been a 928 enthusiast since seeing Risky Business as a teenager in the early 80's. The car's sound and shape just "did it" for me, and nothing priced within reason has come along since that has quite the same effect. I love seeing a beautiful 928 on the road - definitely makes my pulse quicken and I am grateful to own a nice one myself.
I'm envious of your past 288 GTO ownership. I've long said if I could have but one Ferrari, that would be it. I still have my September 1984 and September 1985 issues of Car and Driver with the GTO prominently featured. What a machine!

Chad, welcome to the 928/GTS fold! If I am not confusing you with someone else, I have your great Larini exhaust on my '83 BBi. Had my GTS for 13 years, one of the truly great and underrated cars of all time.
My old Zermat '93 5spd is close to you, Chris is the new owner and in your area. I know he loves it too.
Would love to hear more about your fantastic car, love the rubstrip delete (drool!)
Best,
William
