Your injection is the later style L H as used on USA 1985> Hot wire mass airflow sensor those do suffer LH brain failure sometimes and often it loses the fuel pump circuit. Some shops have jumpered the fuel pump so it energizes with the ignition switch as a workaround but not recommended to drive it much like that. You risk flooding the engine and hydro lock if the key is left on not running and an injector leaks.

Interesting that they mixed up a letter on the Federalization sticker VIN, B for E.

Very nice Euro S2 I have one as well, but it has a Rogerbox (automatic tranny) and no limited slip differential... Great find!! Yours will have a ton of deferred maintenance, so your work is cut out for you but no one knows 928s better than the guys on here... No one! Advice, insight, help, assistance & parts finding is just some of the things these guys can help you with... I'm FAR from a mechanic, but I'm slowly but surely learning a TON about these cars... from these guys. Welcome to the deep end of the shark tank!

Estate sale? Holy crap - only cars I've ever seen at one of those was a clapped out rusted corolla way overpriced at $800 with tons up people lined up to buy or at the other end a 2013 BMW 12cyl with 1200 miles and asking over $100k and no takers....
You have one of the 'holy grail' cars right there - Euro "S" 5 speed, sport susp, wider track (although now you can't use snow chains ;-)...PLUS it looks like all the little bits that the collectors/buyers care about (radio, paperwork, tool kit, etc.) are there and intact. Really great find...
You might even end up ahead of the 'appreciation curve' on this one if you catch up on the deferred maintenance, especially if you find a Dallas Cowboys or Detroit Lions fan with that color combo! I'm not a fan of either team but I do love the color scheme!
Please share more pics as you progress....

LOL...Actually a dealer called me and asked if I knew anybody into old Ferraris and I have a friend into them. The family was selling a 67 330 GTC with 60K miles that had not been started in 20 years. I got that car for my friend. I spent some time getting it running and was amazed and how well the car had been cared for but cared for by a guy that likes driving. It had Recaro seats in it but the family found the orig. seats under the house. I called and talked to the grandson to ask about any other parts and to tell him how impressed I was with his Grandpa's car care. It even had a electric engine oil preluber for experimental aircraft installed. That is when the Grandson told me they still had one more car to sell but it didn't run. Grandpa owned a metal fab shop. He owned this 928 from 85 till I got it.

Jeez. What a couple of nice finds. You did well.
For that strainer fitting, lube it with your choice of spritz can release agent and just go very slow. If you meet resistance, stop and get help. The old gas tanks are NLA and getting harder to find. You cleaned the inside already, so you can try to get a bit of lube on the inside where the low point is. Maybe some WD-40 or similar.

I am thinking that you could possibly put a narrow hose clamp on the outlet plastic spout which has the alloy threaded ring molded into the tank. It is partially retained by 3- 4 small holes which let the plastic run in to keep it from turning. The failure is it breaks lose and spins in the spout and you can not replace and get it tight enough to seal the gasket. Maybe the compression of a clamp would be enough to allow the strainer to be unscrewed ??

I had made a attempt to unscrew it but was really really tight so I left it and just put the inline filter on the outside of the tank before the pump. No need to kick a hornets nest if I don't have to. Somewhere in the notes he already replaced the timing belt. Probably why he bought the tool for setting the tension.

You may at some point in the future, on a very hot day, with hot fuel, and depending on what's left of the inside strainer bits, during a high volume demand run into a ventilation/vapor lock condition at the inlet to the pump.
Later models used an in-tank pump plus and outside pump for this rare situation. There are a lot of 'it depends' conditionals because a lot of things have to happen at the same time for a vapor lock or ventilation to occur.
