http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2434168271
Lets see, it sold for the buy-it-now price of $26,900 then.......lets see if
the selling price is $4550 more now.......warped dash and all......

Weird car. That wrinkle in the dash between door and pod - I've never seen anything like that. Overall, the car looks quite worn for the low mileage - I wonder, if it was partekd in the heat a lot. Funny are the fatty fingerprints on the back of the passenger seat.
I would not buy it - even if it's cheap.

I have to get out more. I had never heard the term "Sean Car" before. On a previous pcar auction of his, I queried the seller about the term which he now uses in all of his ads. It refers to his name--his personal touch. It seems some of his auctions are strictly commission, he is in one location and the car is elsewhere. I get the impression he is not in possession of the car or first hand information.

This sort o fthing is exactly why I can't bring myself to take eBay cars seriously. These people just offer up anything as if it was gold, and expect to sell it just beceause it looks good in a few photos. Good job on catching the real details guys.
The price "fixing" is really distasteful. No wonder you don't see real estate on eBay. - Ruf

Ebay kills me. Most of the 928's I see are the same each week and it is always the same story ....the bidder could not come up with the money so they have to put it back up for auction.
Most of the 928's I see listed never hit their reserve.
I would be interested to see, if anyone that has bought one on ebay, wound up happy with their car.

Well since you asked......
Bought my 22k (now 26k) mile '90 GT off of eBay.....indirectly that is.
Reserve never was met, but I made a deal with the owner behind the seen. Actually it is best for the seller if the reserve is set high.......car never really sells in eBays mind so no commission payment is made just an insert fee, and the ad itself is great publicity.........a win - win situation.

Guess it's time to repeat the admonishment - before you buy any car from any dealer in any town (especially, oh, I dunno, say STL for example) please go to www.riverfronttimes.com and search for his name.
You may just find an article that will give you just a small sample of the way that he does business.
If that doesn't convince you, find and speak with someone in the car scene in STL.
Greg

I have been reading this forum for the past few months. That article on the ebay power seller in st. louis was very frustrating and I was just reading the article! I have noticed the Wilhoit ads and vehicle listings in other areas on the net. Have folks had any negative or positivie experiences with him as well? Is that what the title of this thread suggests?
Thanks

I agree it is tough to keep track but the folks on this list are truly some of the most decent people i have ever encountered. They will steer you right from what i have seen. I have been contacted by Mr. Wilhoit and he makes compelling arguments why I should buy a car from him BUT i too want to keep an open mind and learn the basic ropes before taking the plunge.

I bought my GT through the Cruse Auction House on eBay. I was put in immediate contact with the seller who Cruse was representing, got a thorough PPI and got no surprises when the car arrived. Ended up with a very good car.
