Default TT bearing and Damper locations

Hi
I have read all of the posts that I can find and the WSW.
I am finishing up the TT bearing rebuild.
I cant find the distances for the bearings and the damper anywhere.

87 S4 Auto.

I will reuse the damper but will re-bond the rubber ends to secure completely. I will then drill and tap screws to retain locations.

So, questions..
1. adhesive to use on the damper rubber ends
2. Bearing and damper positions in TT.

The TT was rebuilt in 2007 so there aren't clear witness marks.

Distances before removal were;

* Front bearing 3 3/4" from front face of TT
* Damper was 5 7/8" from rear face..

Thanks in advance..

Thanks all,
I had read that thread, but wasn't sure if it was from factory spec, or what someone had experienced from theirs..
Also wondering if it is from a manual. I believe that the manual has 3 bearings.
Keep in mind that the 2 photos for reference are depicted in different orientations.

The top photo shows the TT forward end to the right. and the lower photo the forward end is to the left.

That being stated, according to the link would the following be your interpretations of the spacing?
Measurements are from the aft end..

87 S4 Auto

Bearing #1..........................1213

Bearing #2..........................781

Damper Rear surface...........338

Thnx

Picture with measurements is for manual TT, old long version and newer short version.

Automatic setup is totally different. Numbers for it can be found in some threads in archive.

All numbers are based on measuring individual tubes and how center shaft is worn by bearing inside sleeve. Factory has never released correct locations.

there are bearing locations for the Constantine Super bearing setup with 3 bearings and no damper.

not sure if that would help in your case considering your going with essentially a stock setup.

From Bill Ball..

Thanks Bill...

"The bearing carriers should be 10-12 inches from the ends. If they slide easily, they will migrate and then not support the shaft as they should, causing vibration. So, in that case, I have pinned them in the proper location by drilling two small holes 180 degrees apart over the carrier location, then tapped the holes for small screws that are long enough to just enter the rubber layer of the carrier and hold them in that location."
Damper about 5 7/8 .

Thanks everyone..
