I need this tranny fro my 89, but I imagine international shipping will be crazy expensive. I asked the seller for a shipping quote. Thanks for posting!

If all you need is the diff, ask him if he would not mind splitting the transmission. Tell him to keep the rest. :-)

Seller says 475 GBPs for shipping and 75 for a crate.
My 89 with LSD is losing reverse, so been looking for a 89+ tranny to replace. Not sure what my options are or if I can move the low gears and LSD to an earlier tranny with higher gears.

yes the ring and pinion/slip can go into an earlier trans 87-88 It does require careful setup of clearances and mesh. You could also send your trans to Greg Brown to be properly rebuilt.

I'd much more trust a GB rebuild than a used gearbox from an overseas source. You could also consider asking Mark & Tom to put a finger on the next '89+ auto gearbox that shows up. With R&R effort what it is, I'd rather know that I'm getting something that has some known-good pedigree.
If your current gearbox is "only" suffering one mild symptom, now's the time to get it rebuilt by Greg. Going in early minimizes the risk of collateral damage. If you wait until something serious grenades inside, it can be a whole lot more serious in a big hurry. In my limited experience anyway.

Your advice is spot on, but with 4 928s (5 by this evening), my budget for major repairs gets spread very thin. The used tranny prices look a lot better than the roughly 3k it would probably take to ship both ways and have GB rebuild mine.

Less shipping.
Uship.com in a 99qt Cooler from walmart...maybe $150 to ship each way.
Was $99 from San Jose to LA, overnight...for me.
