Does anyone have their 87+ leather seat covers they are no longer using, that they are willing to part with? I'm trying to find a driver and passenger seat leather to use as a template. Tears, color or scuffs doesn't matter. 87+ Normal seats does. (Aka no sport seats)
Thanks!
Thanks!

What exactly do you mean by seat covers? Back in the day that was what we bought to put over the original upholstery to help preserve it from wear. I have a set of factory service seat covers for the 928, but I doubt that that is what you are looking for. Other than that I don't recall ever seeing seat covers for the 928. Even if it is the original seat upholstery that you are looking for, except for someone having an extra set of complete seats I doubt that very many 928 guys have stripped a set of seats to have an extra set of original upholstery sitting around. Even those that might have done so or had some seats stripped by someone else, the original upholstery was most likely used a patterns for the new trim.

Sorry for the confusion. Not covers. The old leathers that were on the seats. I know some that have recovered theirs so I was seeing if they had any cracked damaged sets laying around. Hard to find 87+ or 85+ seats local.

If you are just looking for a pattern, I'd give Bob Budd a call. I'd bet that he has them. Whether or not he'd give/sell copies to you is a whole different question, though.

If you are going to reupholster your existing seats why do you need patterns. To redo your's you will have to take the present leather off and then you will have a pattern. On the other hand, if you don't happen to have the seats upholstered now, as with the one in my avatar, you can develop the patterns right off the seat. That is what Doug and I did with the sport seats shown. Are you going to try to do this job yourself? Do you have any experience? Do you have a proper sewing machine? Do you have the new leather yet? What is your plan? Have you reviewed the thread I did on the Sport Seat Project shown?

Jerry makes an excellent points, I've see ones people have re-covered themselves even w/ purchased covers, it's not easy to do correctly there's a learned knack to it.
But that's how you learn right, maybe your a natural, won't know unless you try

I want to take apart a damaged/worn seat, at the seams. Not take apart my undamaged seat. I read through your post and would rather rip the seams for a closer measurement then to guesstimate.
I don't have the machinery, but I have a friend that does.

One major problem with using the original leather off of the seat as a pattern is that it has probably shrunk significantly in various areas, particularly in respect to the insert cushion sections. Then you are left with guesstimating how much and where they have shrunk. You are still going to be measuring and calculating about where and how to cut your new leather. How are you going to get the new leather to match the old leather on the other seat? No matter what you do they are not going to look like they match.
If you want any further thoughts about your seat(s) why don't you post some pictures of them.
