However....a complete Robb Budd interior? That's a huge plus if you like all the red stitching (I'm still on the fence....)
Rebuilt an 85+ transmission? That's not normal and who did the rebuild?
So many odd questions on this one, could be a nice driver or a total disaster. Without a complete PPI from a 928 expert it's a roll of the dice. I'd feel better if the engine & trans were 100% original and it was due for a service than gambling whatever work he lists was done correctly.

Open a new ebay account and go ahead and bid ......then if you "win" do not send any money. Go see the car , drive the car, check it out in person. And THEN decide if you want it or renegotiate for a lower price.
It is like a first right of refusal...nothing real or binding about any of it. And trust me if the seller's brother after the "auction" closes offers him $500 more odds are he would give it to him ..... it is a jungle out there

I think that there is enough stuff overlooked in this supposed total, zero time, rebuild to suggest that even what is said to have been done, like the engine and trans rebuild, was not even done. I suspect that the engine rebuild was nothing more than a TB/WP, Top Refresh, and maybe if you are lucky, fresh fuel lines, plus painting the intake.
As you may know by now the actual mileage is the main factor that controls the value of these cars. The mind set in our society is pretty much that a car is throwaway at 100k miles. Therefore, an 85 with 150K miles and even those being questionable, is not worth much. I paid $3000 for my first 85 5-speed with 143K miles and otherwise bone stock/original, and, side by side at any price, I would take it before this car any day, even with its collapsed front bumper struts.
It would appear that someone thinks this one is worth north of 12.6k dollars, but even they might turn out to be deadbeat bidders. For you. it is obvious that your 13 to 14 K dollars will be required to outbid these other bidders, but only you can tell if the car, as presented, is worth it. I don't think so. (But, then, maybe I am the high bidder and I just don't want your to outbid me.)

Great information and thoughts on this one. The whole odometer question. "who does that" I would reset it back to the 150K if it were mine. I think I will pass on this one but will watch where it goes. It does have its good parts.

It was broken for at least a year and a half when I bought it.
It was a federalized import, so God only knows how many miles were on it when it was imported and whether or not those miles were transferred to the new cluster.
Any mileage estimate on it is just a guess. (I'd guess more than 50k and less than 100k). I can make a decent guess that the PO put about 5k-10k while the odo was broken based on the tires (less rather than more)
So when I did the odo gear, I ended up taking it all the way apart to clean the wheels. You would be surprised at how dirty they were.
And when I put it back together, I decided to make the miles "zero" as of when I bought it. I figured out how far I drove it home, and the other short trips I did while it was still broken and put those miles on it. It now has about 12k on it.
And I took a sharpie and wrote the "old" number and the date it was zeroed on the cluster.
Different folks do different things. But if I ended up selling it (no plans to at present) I'd be totally open about it.

Not saying it's a bad thing to re-set, he did state the mileage in his ad.
Most that would do that and say the car is in a "restored state" IMO than that car should be a lot cleaner and more together that what was shown.
And like you, if your not planning on reselling as it looks to be he was, than it a moot point, right?
edit: sold for $15,100. anyone here get it?

The $15,100 was the tops I would have paid for it. Some detail finishing and hopefully not correcting a hack job in some area, it probably would make a nice driver. Again, did anyone here grab it??

OK, don't try to fool us. We know you bought it. Given all that has been said about it here you just don't want to admit it.

Wow, has the market really gone up that much?
I'd have estimated this to be a $9k car, maybe $10k. Custom interior, powercoat, brake/suspension changes are all nice mods if you're the owner, but they don't really increase the value much.
