Thank you, everyone...for the justification of the abbreviation definition clarification.

Do the Brits on the list get to giggle every time the "Old Bugger" discussion comes up?

Maybe Randy can interject? Oh, "randy," don't get the Brits giggling about that one.

Erik nailed it:
Old Bugger
Old Body
Original Body
Oddly Beautiful

What qualifies?
Purists: Only spoiler-less CIS injected 928's (US or Euro)
L-Jet owners: CIS cars and ours too since we are the red headed stepchild of the 928 world and we just want to belong to something.... (sorry Glen)
EuroS Owners: Meh, our cars rule and don't need a silly title
S4 owners: Any pre S4
85/86 owners: Any 16V
911 Owners: Those "cheap" V8 cars you buy when you cannot afford a 32V (which is what you buy when you cannot afford a 911)
Non Porsche People: "Is that a 944?"
Prius Owners: "Why is that gas guzzler still behind me? He can pass me using the right lane, I'm only going 54mph"

I think I qualify, but it can't be just the balding white hair that makes me one. It's the [over-]weighted combination of age and mileage. And grumpiness, that's gotta contribute some!

I was with you right up to the last line. I need a "My other car is a Porsche" sticker. Now that I think of it, you should pick on Subarus with "Coexist" stickers. Anyway, I only block kids in WRX's with plywood hood scoops.

After reviewing the links provided...

I believe I'm going to go with Old Bastar*. That way, me and the car will be on the same level.

OB = Old Body = all 77 to 86 cars.
S2 = 84 to 86 ROW 16v
S3 = 85 to 86 32v cars

Simply wrong and confusing.

"OB" is pre-1980. Period.

How can OB refer to 77 to 80 CIS cars when the exact same car was produced until 1982.
So talk about confusing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Simple question - what do you call a 1981 or 1982 4.5L CIS 928??????????? OB2!!!!

Reversing your logic, and using lots of punctuation, how is 77 to 86 useful?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????

That covers 2 body styles and 3 FI systems, 3 engine displacements, 2 manual transmissions, 2 clutches, 2 automatics, plus US/RoW variants.

The term means 78 and 79 cars. Be a "purist" and add 77's, too.

People who don't know can be taught, don't you think?

I cannot find the post / thread (found the one I copied above instead) referring to "OB" as a US only thing.

You guys across the pond need to come up with your own nicknames.

I am guessing you could not answer the question so came up with your own.

So to most "World Wide" OB means "The Old Body" style used for the body style supplied 77 to 86.

To the limited few USA specific 928 people OB refers to USA/CAN only 77 to 80 4.5L CIS cars. Pretty confusing since the 928 was sold all over the World.

By the OB "old bugger" definition the body style changed when they added front and rear spoilers? That did not happen until 1983 in the USA/CAN when the 4.7L S was produced. Any spoiler additions 80 to 82 were options.
