Default chain failure

As indicated, I had a chain failure this past summer...actually it was a tensioner pad failure...which became a chain issue when the pad went into the cam sprocket. Which I will add, caused the destruction of the cams sprockets on that side of the engine as well.
There was no valve contact with pistons (removed head/s and verified)
I managed to find 2 used GT cams (thanks Rob E).

My question is, my timing belt has maybe 10k on it...which I was reusing...i now think its going in the garbage.

Do you think the belt could have been damaged (strained) when the chain let go.

For the price I would toss it. I am sure it got strained big time when that bank locked up.

Get a new one. A locked up camshaft can cause the belt to snap.
I'm working on a car that I'm very certain that's exactly what happened when the last shop screwed up a few things and locked up the driver side cam gear, causing the belt to snap.

If you have to ask if a $50 part is worth it...

You know the answer.
