I have seen a couple slant nose 928S no idea as to their provenance. Although one owner was adamant that it was a Porsche factory modification.....I have no idea if it is true...

During the Euro 928 2002, at the Porsche factory, there was a single unfinished right wing modified for a 944 style light. They explained to us that they have produced around 10 cars with these.

Until now, I have just seen them on S4s and I'm not sure that the car for sale was produced this way.

You didn't by chance get a picture of that fender, did you!? I would love to see how Porsche approached it!

There is (was?) a 928 S4 with this kind of main lights in France. The same car also has the wide rear fenders that were made before the GTS.

Thank you!

Below is one from this thread:

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...g-germany.html

Also claimed by the owner to have been done at the Porsche factory.

I am curious about how Porsche implemented these 944-like pop-up mechanisms on the 928 (what motors and parts they may have re-used (914, 944?), what mount points were used, etc).

I am also curious about the design selection of the straight lateral rear line for the covers, if it was other than just a practical choice. I did a styling exercise on covered headlights for my 928 and will link to a separate thread about it (after I create that separate thread...). Edit: here is the thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...l#post13079662

In comparison to the pictured car, the 86.5 Craigslist car seems to have rectangular headlights instead of round. According to Wikipedia, 1983 was when the U.S. loosened up on the old mandates for specifically sized rectangular or round headlights and gave the US more flexibility to experiment with more "Euro" styling, but with rectangular headlights remaining a favored styling for a while. Supposedly, round headlights came back in favor in the late 90's.

The Craigslist car is about 90 minutes from me and I sure am tempted to go look at it out of sheer curiosity! Interesting indeed, Kevin - Thank you for pointing it out!

I certainly prefer the original look, round 928 exposed headlights. But if you can really find one of these '1 of 10' factory optioned cars, they might turn out to be valuable as 928's continue to climb in value and collectability.
