He'll never do a day.
As a side note regarding the war. The Light Cruiser sunk by the Royal Navy, was in fact the old Phoenix. She and the Detroit were the only warships to escape Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.

I could see 3 years for chopping up the back end of that 928 and turning it into an El Camino. On the other hand, his comment about the 928 allowing him to get home before his dad passed was a punch right in the feels.

There is an awesome documentary on the conflict that was at the center of this controversy iinvolving another incredible machine...
And once you finish that one.. you can search for Guy Martin and the Vulcans last flight.. and THEN, once yo finish that, you can search out the Guy Martin Documentary called Closer to the Edge and discover what real bravery in Motorsport is.... no wonky physics, magic cam gears, or brakes vs power pseudo science.. just massive jewels.

Taking a car with that number plate to the home port of a capital warship Britain sank was about as stupid as it gets. Trying to tell the Argentinians it was coincidence is akin to a group of Japanese tourists walking round Pearl Harbour wearing tee shirts broadcasting how they did a good job 7/12/41!
Frankly they were lucky they got out alive. It is what in Yorkshire we would call "Peeing through the letter box and inquiring how far it went".
I like Top Gear, I have a strong sense of humour but that crossed a line IMHO. That a 928 was trashed in the midst of it also pisses me somewhat.

They were probably planning the dirty deed in July 41! I seem to remember on the movie Tora Tora Tora it was a nice summer's day in Japan when they were having practice runs trying out their shallow run torpedoes to make sure they would work inside the harbour.
Indeed the rest of the world should make allowances for you chaps that side of the pond. I do not know anywhere else in the world that uses the day and date *** about face but to be fair at least we know what you mean.
With all these damm spell checkers "correcting" [corrupting?] everything one writes in English to the US version even I am getting confused about my spelling these days- the joys of Microsoft. Our [correct] version of English may be illogical but it is English after all.

I've always liked him. This joke did little to change that.
People in the media with view points like Jeremy's don't get any breaks.
They're just waiting for a reprobate, xenophobe like Jeremy to finally screw up enough that they can destroy him or his career.
Conservatives are held to a different standard.
The other side always gets a pass for screw ups no matter how big and stupid. This is because they are better people with bigger hearts and always mean well. Yeah right.

IMO the idea that that number plate was a deliberate dig is beyond stupid, and has been thoroughly debunked many times already. This was completely set up by rabble rousers in Argentina who saw an opportunity to make mischief and seized it. Frankly, I find human stupidity like this hilarious, which is why that number plate is on the front of my car (we don't have actual plates on the front here in South Florida). I may regret it at some point, since there are a few Argentinian restaurants I go to in Miami, but most of the comments I've heard/seen from actual Argentinians has been one of embarrassment for their government and the idiot rioters.
