Besides allowing for bigger and better brakes, what other improvement does the s4 suspension (shocks/springs, upper/lower control arms, ball joints, etc) have over the original '78s?
Reason I'm asking bc I have already upgraded my alum ball joints to steel ones on blue iris, but I am also thinking about putting my current '89 s4's brakes onto '78 blue iris. I have read elsewhere here that changing the entire suspension is easier and possibly safer.
Lastly, what does an used s4 front suspension setup cost?
Thanks

With a '78, no need to swap out the entire front suspension for the bigger brakes, all you need are the caliper adapters. You can buy perch ride height adjusters separately if you want to be able to lower the front ride height. I believe S4 upper A-arms allow for more negative camber when used on the older cars, but that's not really an issue for a street driven car. Not really aware of any inherent advantages of using the S4 suspension other than the bigger brakes and ride height adjustment. The 928S calipered cars require the S4 front spindle swap to use the S4 brakes, so a lot of folks just do the whole front end. Not necessary for your 928.

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation to the suspension systems. Exactly what I was looking for, since I have an extra set (front and rear) of s4 calipers sitting around and planning to use them.
I guess the usual vendors sell the adapters?
Should I worry about the rotors and ball joints clearance?
Thanks again!
