It's a rear 5-speed too. I don't know what you have to do to get a salvage title but this thing needs to be saved.

A. Why does it need to be a salvage title? Do we know it's been condemned by a state to be salvage value?

B. It's an 82, in a dull color, and non-Euro(AFAIK). Not the most desirable vintage, despite the 5sp trans.

C. Step right up sir. Your money is as good as anyone's. We'll provide logistical support, and if you can arrange a tech session out of the cold with ribs and beer, prolly put together a little resto party for a long Sat in Dec.

D. Take $1000 in cash and a trailer. Start at $600 and work your way up.

E. There's a reason that we don't know it was put up and never started again. Maybe as simple as a fuel pump, maybe the engine has a rod sticking out the side. This is called; Eight, the hard way.

Her!

The photos are poor, so it's hard to see if it's worth the asking price. I suspect not., although that doesn't mean that she's not worth saving.

That's funny, it was in Monroe last month when one of crew drove 30 miles went to look at it and found out there was no title, asking price was lower too.

IMO its worth the price of the used unknown condition wheels

So 500, and you may lose your $ if its reported stolen.

Dave, to protect from being reported stolen, the buyer needs to have a bill of sale which covers the sale for cash, the date, the sellers info, the buyers info and the condition at time of sale. This will resolve any 'stolen car' criminal issues, however the civil liability still exists until the state issues a bonded title in the new owners name, and the bond is paid. At that point, if the car is seized, the bond issuer will be responsible for making the buyer whole. Warning, each state is a little different, but getting the sellers full legal info is pretty important.

I went through this on a 968 a few years back in TX and it was a fair amount of work, but once the bond was issued for a fee, the buyer is financially covered. I bonded the 968 value at $17,000(way, way, over it's actual value) and it cost $300. I asked the bond issuer if the car were found to be stolen or liened and it was seized, what value would I get from the bond holder. In TX it's state law that the bond be paid in full declared value. I was temped to drive the car to the border and leave the keys in it, for a quick $14k profit!

Many states do not have bonded titles....and Texas has recently changed the way in which you can get them....which involves much more paperwork and an appearance before a judge.
Seems it was far too easy in the past...

Thanks Doc, we were all talking about cars up for sale w/o titles at our monthly beer night/meeting last night.

It's so easy for the "owner" to get a new title, if thy can't be bothered to do it walk away from the deal.

There was another 928 white w/o an engine (said it got lost at a shop that was doing the work on it huh ????) about two years ago we looked at, kid said his dad can't find the title and hes selling it for his dad, OK thanks for wasting our time, we walked

I can't find any info that TX has changed it's process to include an appearance before a judge for issue of the bonded title.

DMV doesn't show it; http://txdmv.gov/motorists/buying-or...-with-no-title

http://texas-losttitlebond.com/learn.../learnmore.htm

http://smallbusiness.chron.com/texas...ess-13055.html

Forms, fees, and the bond premium, looks like job done.

I've got a bonded title on my 928.

Was sold at a dealer auction and never transferred should have ran away from this car as fast I
could.

...but where's the fun in that?

There's only one theft & recovery on the car's record!

Maybe, I'm a 944 man. Been scared of the 928 because it's just that much more. I'm not finished with my $850 944 yet, and I just don't have another garage spot. Lol sorry guys I thought maybe this one was slipping through the cracks.

That's funny as that is the way the ad looked last month, nothing about the "no Title".

Eric, maybe that's why its in a trailer a "moving" salesman

You're right about the moving salesman. It is weird that he has the ad running in two cities.

I often run craigslist adds in multiple cities. I travel a lot and my stuff usually is so specialised that I have to enlarge the pool.

I'm with the others on this though; the asking price is what I have paid for running ob cars with good titles. No title? Cut the price in half.
