Hello to all and thank you for this forum.
Recently aquired a 79 5 speed number 1775 in gold. She not pretty..needs some glass, door locks, replacement everything inside, full electronics going thru. Found a donor car in a secret junk yard with unbelievably low prices.
Im going to have so much fun. The only reason i got her is because she was free and she runs like a top. I drove her 100 miles on the freeway last week and it was sooth as silk. Shes a bit beyond restoration imo however im gonna make her functional as i can without going crazy. Hope you purests dont give me too hard a time. I just want to drive her its so much fun. This forum is golden.

Welcome. The only hard time newcomers get is for failing to post pics. You already passed that test
One of the coolest things about this forum is that the members span the entire spectrum. From "concours level" original condition, to beat up, barely running, no interior basket cases. And everything in between (including "Frankenstein" motor swaps).
All are treated well (or at least as well as they treat others).
Nice looking car. You will find everything you need to get it running well and keep it that way here.
That is the first gold one I've seen and it looks beautiful! Add your location to your profile, as it will help people help you. There are number of vendors who can help you with parts. I use 928sRus.com the most because they are very close to me and nice folks. Be sure to read the entire new visitors thread near the top of this site for tons of useful info, including where to buy parts. Welcome to the joy of these cars!
One thing i need asap is a gas cap...for less than 150$ any leads on that..i have to smog her and that is a necessity...
There's one on eBay right now I think for about $80. Even that is a bit much for a used one, or I would buy it. The locking/unlocking pawl is likely broken since they almost always are at this stage. That problem might likely be solved in the near future. I'm working on it.
928 International is a very good place to buy parts, particularly good used parts for the 928, but there is a rumor on here that right now they are out of used gas caps. They are, however, having a 1/2 sale right now on used parts that they have in stock. Put your list together and call to see what they might have. I think the sale ends Xmas.
Welcome and congrats. She looks fantastic, and once you've seen the threads on my basket cases, you will think yours is already restored! Look forward to seeing more pics!
