I believe I have one in decent shape, but need to verify if it's 88 or 89.

With an 89 engine in a 86 car, you won't have an IMS system to connect, so you could probably use the 88 wiring harness, and just leave the temp sensors disconnected or remove them and plug the holes. Likewise, you'll have knock sensors on the top of the engine that won't be of any use. I don't know if the 88 harness will plug into the 86 computer and if it will all work, but PM me if you after researching it, you want a picture and price of what I have.

Rob--

You'll need to connect the knock sensors to your block under the intake, and you'll need the matching EZK and LH boxes from the 1989 car. If you have the 1989 exhauts manifolds, the IMS temp sensors are fitted in those. Get a harness with the IMS relay socket (and relay...) and you can maintain the cat fire protection. Get the diagnositic plug and its bracket along with the rest of the harness, and you can then Sharktune. Handy even for diagnosing sensor faults and other issues too.

Your 89 oil pressure sensor is not the same as an 88 (I have an 88 harness on an 89) so you will have to change your pressure sensor.

The wiring changes 88-89 due to the change to the digi dash. The position of the diagnostic socket and wiring also changed so this may need sorting.

I would go with the 88 harness if possible for your transplant project. I think it will give less problems to sort out.

Default Harness

I took a look at the harness I have and I don't think its the one you need. The one I have goes through the firewall and connects to the CE panel but not the computers.
